Apparently Midwestern University Arizona told me I was waitlisted for an interview. Anyone else ever heard of something similar? I'm assuming if one is waitlisted for a seat they have a okay shot of getting in? However, if someone is waitlisted for an interview, should I assume that means a rejection?

Stats: Science: 3.51
OGPA: 3.65
DAT: 20AA/21 TS/18 PAT

Waitlisted, no. They just told me I wasn't going to get an invite because I had a 17 in QR lol. Was this the real reason, or were they just avoiding telling me? Who knows.

I too have been wait-listed there. It's better than a rejection

Did they actually use the word "waitlist?" If you don't mind me asking?

I got the same thing. I believe the letter actually said "your application is put on hold and will continue to be compared to future applicants" basically saying that my stats are average and they wanna wait to see if someone better comes along to decide if they're gonna give me an interview. They made sure to mention "this is not a rejection."

Yeah i got that same letter. I called them and they said it means you've been waitlisted and that I "wasn't" good enough to get an interview but not bad enough to get rejected. My stats were decent in my opinion: AA: 20 TS: 21 PAT: 18 Science GPA: 3.51 OGPA: 3.65 BCP: 3.4

IS MIDWESTERN ARIZONA pretty hard to get into? I was reading on their website and mean GPA last year was about a 3.6 which I would think is pretty moderate to high.

I have a 16 QR and got an invite, so I don't think that's the real reason.

To OP: I called about couple weeks ago asking my status and they gave an answer similar to yours. They never used the word wait-list but didnt say rejected (just that "official rejections will be mailed in December") however; I did receive an interview invite a couple weeks later. So I'm assuming they like something on your app but don't wanna interview you just yet and they go back and look at it later (kind of like a second round).

I think you may have been in a different situation than the OP. It seems that most people, when put on the wait list, have been told so explicitly. I know when I called up, they told me not to expect to hear back until the first of the new year at the earliest. So maybe the fact that they skirted your question was a good sign? Congrats on your interview!👍

Possibly- it's impossible to know what the admissions committees of all these schools are thinking!

I just called and was also told "waitlist" which I was a little relieved to hear. Both Arizona schools have rejected some people with great stats, so it must be something specific they look for.
