"I bombed that interview" success stories

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Had two crap interviewers who hadn't read my file. One was late, so it was only 15 minutes of pointless generic questions you might ask a grade schooler. The next was an abrasive interview with the dean of admissions where after each of my answers (not looking up from the paperwork) he muttered "hmm, not really what I was looking for". Result: first round of acceptances with a 10%ile mcat.

I got into a mini argument with my interviewer on an important medical ethics issue. At one point I turned asked him what he would do in XYZ situation (which was somewhat related and equally important) and he responded that it was HIM interviewing ME and not the other way around. Even before this started he basically wouldn’t accept any of my responses and told me to think of a different answer every time I gave a response to his question. Worst interview experience. But results? Accepted.

You can generally pull this off if you respond with patience and a huge smile.

Almost all of them are to non-rolling schools. I'm just trying to stay sane between now and February, m'kay?
Yaass!! Preach. I’m in the same situation, except I’m waiting for March. :bang: I’ve been waiting since Sept too, so it will be a solid 6 months of constant panicking and trying not to think about it.

To add to the thread, I was on MMI and there was one station that asked “What is your connection to our school?” And I had the worst possible answer ever. I said I had no connection, verbatim. And I didn’t even complement it with stuff I like about their school since that wasn’t the question so I didn’t want to bs the answer. It was just super awkward to be like “yeah no, no connection.” Result: accepted!!! I don’t know how I was accepted honestly.

Honestly, that's probably a better response than "My sister's husband once adopted a rescue dog from one town over, so I've always had a soft spot for your school."

A lot of MMI's throw out the worst station - so you must have just crushed the others!
