Is anyone else 1/4 URM? Because I'd like to know how you approached it in the application process. I tried to start a thread earlier (URM status) but it quickly degenerated into a tuna net for the terminally opiniated.

i think i'm 1/16 native american, but i'm pretty much keeping that on the d/l.

anyway, i think the only way to get an actual answer to your question is to either search the aamc website or, if it's not on there, call someone from amcas.

I'm at least 1 / 4096ths URM... AT LEAST. I just know it. Does that count?

personally if i was 1/4th black or hispanic or whatever i really wouldn't bother...but its up to you.

I wouldnt say that 1/4 shouldnt count as part URM.... you just have to be sure that you feel that the status applies...if you feel that your race has affected your life, then Id say check the box, if not, keep it to yourself.

Ask yourself did that 1/4 make your life more similar to full blooded hispanics or is it just something you though of for med school. If the ADCOMs think your using it just to benifit yourself it will hurt ALOT more than help. BTW im 1/4 ORM.

Why did you start another thread? You received plenty of answers on page 3 of the same exact thread you started yesterday. It's rubbish like this that leads to SDN having to do "maintainance" - people starting duplicate threads in effort to clog up the pre-allopathic board.

Indeed. OP, it is regrettable that your other thread got hijacked, but you got plenty of good answers and this thread is, I'm certain, going to suffer the same fate. It is a duplicate, so I'm closing it.

Once more, with feeling, [email protected].
