I DIDNT TAKE MY FINAL?!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Okay I did..

So we had a final that was timed, but you took it at home. It was essentially a time essay. Because my laptop is a POS, I did it on Google Docs like ALWAYS and downloaded it as a word to upload in an email. Well, somewhere the document got ****ed (I think downloading from Google because I can't even open it).

I know I'm an IDIOT for not opening it first, but I literally downloaded it a minute before it was due and "no late exams will be taken".

I emailed the TA as soon as I found out, but would should I email the professor? Is it too pushy to ask "will I get an F or I".

This is insane. I would have rather turned in an incomplete exam than no exam.

Google Docs also has a share link function. Why didn't you use that also?

Because it needed to be uploaded as a word doc?
That's the last thing I was thinking about at 4:58PM when the assignment was closed at 5PM. It wasn't through email but I didn't want to mention that for anonymity. It was blackboard.

As a doctor, you'll need to learn to think on your feet.

So your upload didn't go through on BB. Your assignment is due in 2 min. What do you do?

Answer:

"Hi Professor,

My Word document for the Final Essay is not uploading through BB. I'll keep on trying, but here's the link to it on Google Docs.

Thanks,
Lalex"

Yes, I know and if I didn't think of that, the professor/TAs already told us to do that if something like that were to happen. But that is a case of "not uploading" not a case of "uploading a corrupted file".

But.
I was stupid by not opening the document after I downloaded it.
I went to sleep. I hadn't slept in 36 hours before that due to a Biochem project.

So what's the current situation?

I don't know but everyone mentioning what I should have done is not helping my anxiety. Next time I will make sure to upload it as well as send a word, PDF, and copy the damn thing into the email as well.

Oh and carrier pigeon.

Good grief. I hope you get your anxiety under control before finishing medical school. Also, waiting until the last minute is never a good idea. Kinda like pulling all nighters and staying up for 36 hours... My $0.02.

Pretty much just lol-ed my way through this thread.

I was joking half the time... It's okay for premeds to have a sense of humor, I promise.

"Last minute". Yeah it was an exam that started at 4 and ended at 6. I started at 4 and used all my time like anyone taking an exam should.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be snarky. Lol. I meant that you probably should have saved it around the 1:45 minute mark to be safe. And checked it. It's a decent strategy and has worked for me. @lalex I understand that you have a sense of humor, that's why I didn't straight up say, "You're insane."

Yes I know.. But the thing is I didn't even finish my exam. There were minimum word counts I didn't meet which I hope will help prove I didn't alter it. Anyways Idk why this is in italics.

To the best of my knowledge, google docs has a logging function for changes to the document. If you haven't changed anything to the doc since the end of the examination period, it should be easy to demonstrate the time at which you stopped making changes to the doc.

Under the "File" button, there should be an option labelled "see revision history". Try that.

Thank you! I will do that if they question me.
