I had it recently. I don't want to point out what school it was. But I really wish I did well. So for the school in question it seems everyone is happy with their interview. That is the interviewer takes great care to ask only those questions that will not upset you. I felt like he was being friendly to me as well. He talked a lot about the school and tried to give encouraging comments like "so far so good", "i agree, good point", and at the end he said "i hope to see you here next year". But I know these comments mean nothing if what I said or how I behaved did not impress them. So any way to tell what I might have said to really impress them or to really bury my application? I searched sdn and figured out that I will not hear back from the school until January...

I am afraid that even as comfortable as they were trying to make me feel I still came off as anxious and/or neurotic.

The school in question is definitely not SUNY Buffalo, where I had my one and only interview to date. They make decisions in 24 hours, and I was waitlisted. I'm actually happy with this result, because Buffalo accepts a large percentage of their waitlist.

I wouldn't worry so much. There is still plenty of time to receive more invites, and one interview is all it takes. You might just be pleasantly surprised.

how early did u apply?

at the end he said "i hope to see you here next year"

Happened to me at two different interviews. Got accepted to both.

Don't stress. Send some thank you notes if you feel the need and sit back and relax.

Thank you. You just gave me an idea. I was trying to google emails and could not find them. But it's possible to send a card by post? I think I'll do that tomorrow.
Oh I am sure if they were going to accept you, they might be nice to you and all that. But there have been many threads on sdn where it was proven that it means nothing. Especially at schools where every interviewee feels welcome.

using Google to find email rarely works. Go to the university website and find the directory. There's a good chance you'll find what you need there.

What should you do if you didn't have such a great interview? My interviewer spent first half of the hour grilling me on details about my research, not letting me finish my answers... best (or worst) was this part, after I had FINALLY got to actually finishing a sentence about what aspects of the research were especially difficult, time consuming:

interviewer: so if it's so hard, why do the research? why spend the time?
me: well, just because it's hard doesn't mean it's not worth doing, and i think knowledge is valuable in itself -
interviewer: i don't think that's a very good answer. you wouldn't get any grants that way. (lol... i already got a grant though wtf)
me: well, it also relates to (blah blah blah)...

o___o She also said weird things about my application - that i didn't have leadership roles (I had listed two separate ones on my AMCAS primary), and that I didn't have clinical (I do... and I also have a full time clinical JOB) - which I politely corrected her on but it made me feel so weird about the whole thing.

Most interview feedback on this school is pretty positive, saying that their interviews were laid back, but I didn't feel like mine was so laid back. Plus, there were two other girls (Who had another interviewer) who apparently had such bad interviews that they were complaining to the dean after the day was over... What should i do??

Also on my way from the interview I was on this train to an airport. Tried to chat up this girl and she was very mean to me. So I have a bad premonition about this whole thing.

i meant whether i should address it in my thank you letter or not and hope for the best. 🙄

But it's possible to send a card by post?

Not sure what others would say but I sent all my thank you notes via post, handwritten individualized notes on professional blank stationary. I sent emails only when the interviewer specifically asked that I contact them by email.

Not sure how you would pull that off in a short note. I used the same format each time: opening "thank you" statement, a quick mention of something discussed, one thing I liked about the program or school and a closing "thank you again". If you were to go about writing a note in a similar fashion it may be addressable. Although I feel like it might be kinda awkward...?

Maybe others have better ideas.

Best of luck!
