I'm covering a shift for a colleague making for a very short turnaround from nights to days for me (24 hours). I'm dragging badly, and I've had nothing but an unending string of profoundly uninteresting cases.

Medicine, like any other job, eventually becomes routine when you do it for a long enough time. Most cases aren't really that interesting to me anymore. But profoundly uninteresting is a load of asthmatics worsened by the recent "cold" snap in LA (it actually rained here yesterday for the first time since mid-April, which is more interesting than any of the cases today); a few anxiety-laden females masquerading as chest pain; one lady who slept wrong and couldn't turn her neck; a couple drug seekers; etc. The list goes on and on... and on... and on....

I feel your pain. I am covering someone today as well...I would much rather have been tearing up the mountain bike trails in this great rainy weather. The Santa Monica Mountain trails have been sooooo dry and dusty since there has been no rain for so long.
