I have 4.0 GPA and 19aa/ts DAT. Why no interviews yet?

i don't know wtf is going on here. Is it because of my cc prereqs? I don't think it should be a problem since I have done 1.5 years at the university now with 2 more semesters left and have a 3.7.

what is going on here??? I applied to 7 schools. 8th batch

more like where did you apply and state residency

Uic(instate), umdnj, western, USC, Indiana, nyu, minnesita

You should have applied to more private schools dude. umdnj, indiana, and even minnesota aren't likely to give you an interview this point. state schools try to fill their class by the first deposit date.

Damn it lol. Ill apply to at least 20 schools next time with lots of privates.

there could be many reasons. what is the complete breakdown of your dat scores?
I know many schools have cutoffs at 17 per section.

You must be obeys twin based on your situation and writing style..

Call the admissions people or visit their offices and theyll give it to you straight.

One section at 17(reading comp.) the rest is 18 or above.

👍👍

Sounds a lot like him.....

Yolo, just wait. No one can give you a definite answer. We are not adcom. Just apply early and cross your fingers. If people like me can get interviews and acceptances you can too. You just have to mature a little bit...maybe a lot actually lol. But it does take maturity at interviews, I am a re-applicant I applied two cycles ago with two interviews but got wait listed. Had to mature and not get beat down by not getting in. Just apply broadly. Good luck and go find a gf from what I remember talking to you last you have been a lonely guy stressed about school. Have fun a little.

yea i had a feeling it was yolo. this kid will never learn, but it's all good.

you know, you can actually call schools and find out first hand about your chances. all you have to do is take an initiative, go on the school's website and call them. then make an appt. to speak with an adcom member for a few minutes. make sure you do it when they're not that busy..i.e. in like april/may

I think you need to evaluate and identify your weak areas. I do not agree that more schools applied to are better. You applied to plenty, but of course, knowing their interview timelines are important. But, from reading this all the way down, you go from a 4.0 and 19 dat, to a 3.7 and some 17-18's. And I would be willing to bet your calculated gpa is even lower, because it usually is after the AADSAS gpa calculation. Mine was. So, being realistic, you now are comparable to every other applicant, and I am not surprised that you haven't heard back as you applied later. This is not to make you alarmed or frustrated! Realistically, your scores are good! Your gpa is good! But make sure you aren't exaggerating to yourself. My highest dat score was a 23. My lowest was a 16. I was accepted to only one school so far, and that was only this week. I applied in July. If you have to reapply, my advice would be that 17's arent too highly favored, as I know, so try to increase that and apply earlier. But you dont need to apply to 10+ schools. That is terribly expensive, plus you'll spend more flying out to interviews! Good luck.

Disagree, you need to add more schools.

ok, i'm typically not one to pass judgement...especially with my abysmal...reprehensible GPA. but i'm certainly entitled to an opinion.

if OP is in fact yolo/obey/dentalsockpuppet69...i can say that i really don't want people like that in healthcare, much less dentistry.

nobody likes a basket case.

Why did u guys keep mentioning "you only live once" ?? what is this? lol.

IMO, you'll be fine. Minnesota is still interviewing for sure. They invite until end of Jan (their ADCOM told me that). GPA and DAT are good, too. My only question was, how do you have 2 semesters of school left? Was that including Fall 2012 or is it two semesters after that? Also, maybe they want to see you can handle harder science courses at the university level?

I had a non-trad major, but I went to a well-known univ for all 4 years, so I think that helped me. But if I had a non-trad major after going to a CC, I don't think I would have gotten in to dental schools this cycle without having a post-bacc or something to back me up. That's my personal opinion though. Also, you can try calling the schools to see where your application is at.

Minnesota, for example, I called them to ask if they had everything in my app, EVEN THOUGH it was showing up at "App complete" or w/e on AADSAS, and it turned out that they didn't have one of the LOR's from a supervisor for a volunteer group or something. And I had no idea they even had a requirement for that!

Try contacting the schools; predominantly every ADCOM I've been in communication with has been extremely kind and helpful. Just please don't ask when they're giving you an interview...that's a no-no. Hah, good luck though!

They don't mean it as an acronym. "YOLO" was a guys username, one of his many usernames apparently.
