So I've posted about this before, but now I really have to decide between two classes and I just don't know what to do. I can retake Micro this summer (got a C+ first time around) or take an upper level Bio that I haven't taken before (Biology of Cancer). I already have my degree and all my other pre-reqs, now I'm just taking classes to up my GPA and improve my application. Help!!

It may help your GPA more to retake Micro IF the new grade erases the old. Otherwise, you're just averaging another high grade in to everything else. Just a thought.

Oh - forgot to mention - i am taking medical bacteriology in the second summer session, which for my school is an upper level micro course, so it's kind of like I'll be improving in that area. But - will it still be used in the calculation of my science GPA?

take the upper level course and do well. it will look better than repeating a class you've already had and doing well.

I'd go for the Bio of Cancer class. I'm taking one right now and it is really really interesting (plus the prof is awesome). And I agree that it will benefit you more to take a new class and do well in it rather than repeating another, might as well learn about a new subject when you have the chance! (at least that's my rationale for not repeating the 1st semester of o-chem 😉

Thanks - I think I am going to take the Bio of Cancer class - it fits better into my schedule and I can still take the on-campus GRE prep course. If I take Micro I can't take that (conflicts). Thanks!
