Hi,

I just registered for NRMP today - after realizing that the programs need you to do this in order to rank you? Have programs submitted their rank lists by now? Should I contact each one to tell them to rank me? Kind of worried about this. Thanks!

Oh my I hope you are not joking. In the event that you are not, you absolutely need to get caught up with all of this. Yes, you need to register with the NRMP in order to particpate in Match. I believe it cost extra if you waited beyond some date in November. Please watch all the tutorial videos they have on the website about the process. You need to CERTIFY your list in order for it to be run. If you just create a list but don't certify it, you will NOT be included in the match!

Most programs have finalized their lists by now, but haven't necessarily submitted it. I think their deadline is the same as ours.

Yes, tell your top choices that they are your top choices, ASAP. If you have a favorite and tell them that they are your #1, ONLY tell that one program. Hope this helps.

I know for certain that some programs have already certified their lists, although they can still alter the list and re-certify it before 2/24. I think the safe thing to do would be to tell the programs that you just registered for the match and ask them to rank you. Some of them might be confused, but it is better than not having them rank you at all.

Not to be mean, but how did you not know you needed to do be registered for the match in order for programs to rank you? Did your school not provide you with any info on the process?

100% true... I randomly realized on my way home this evening that you need to tell ALL the programs you interviewed at that you now have an NRMP number. Because at this point NO ONE is ranking you. Just say something to the nature of there was an issue with your registration before, but it's all figured out now, and you apologize for the last-minute correction. Also not to be mean, but if you give off the notion that you had no clue about how the process works, that is going to make you look, well, clueless.

Do we need to submit a rank order list or is just certifying sufficient? I don't see a button to submit, and instructions say that only certified lists will be used for the match, which makes me think just certifying is sufficient. However the NRMP list of deadlines refers to 2/24 as the "submission" deadline. Thanks - just don't want to screw up again!
