Here is the problem: I need a new car but I am unable to decide and honestly there is no car out there (reasonable car) that I really love.
I like luxury cars with muscles, and I don't want another BMW.
Any suggestions?

Buy a nice solid mid-range whatever and spend the rest on a toy like an Acura NSX or a '62 Vette.

That's my approach anyway. One to run, one for fun. So far, it's worked out well.

pick up truck of your choice. I left behind the sports car and will never look back.

Do you like this brand called FERRARI?

E63 AMG.
6.2L V8 w/ 525 hp.
Probably over $90K with some options though.
The E550 is a respectable 382 hp. Fully loaded and customized for a little more than 70 large.
Give in to the 3 pointed star.
You should also test drive the C63 AMG. Loaded for well under $70k, but nearly 500hp. Nice ride until you drop the hammer. Debadge it and smoke the chumps in their "muscle" cars. I just finished some car shopping myself. 3 weeks old and my wife hit a GD cat or something. $2500 worth of paint and plastic going on next week. At least I got some custom parts out of it.
I've seen the light, I'm a Benz man for life. Though I am going to a preview of the new 2010 Jaguar XJ tomorrow night at the dealer. It's also almost 400 hp and looks very striking. About $80 large out the door as well.
I love new car shopping.

call me cheap (?!?) but if I had that kind of price range I'd go for the audi TTS coupe or roadster. Not really sure what you're into, but give it a look.

👍The S5 would be my next pick for something bigger than the roadster.

Plankton,

Not my cup of tea, but when I hear "muscles" I think American made
touring sedans. I think "Balls" when I see those Audi's and Porsches,
(cars that I love btw)...

But if you want some serious COMFORT and SPEED in the form of muscles,
get a LOADED 300C SRT8 HEMI. Loaded at $50K.

The bonus to this is that you keep the other $30K in your bank. 😀

My father loves his, it's impeccable, lots of bells and whistles, and
it goes. It's really a great ride, old school. If you want a sports car, the others are closer to what you'd like.

I would buy noyac's supercharged tundra, 0-60 in less than 5 seconds in a full sized truck, f'ing awesome. Unfortunately, he may not part with it for less than 80k. Another good option is the porche cayenne turbo.

Plank,

Now, what do I have to do to put you into this car?

Stryker V8 Aileron

If money were no object, Stryker! ~150K I think. 😱 Could be 250K, can't recall...

Spykers are truly beautiful luxury cars, with the emphasis on luxury. The interiors are ridiculous. Why you called it a Stryker twice, I don't know. Probably because you are a naive pre-med. 😉 There was a Spyker for sale a few years ago in a local dealership and I went just to drool on it. I believe they are one of the few companies bidding on Saab now, although I haven't been following that story closely and Saab might have completely evaporated by now...

You mean this one?

You know pd4, you may be right. I wouldn't sell it for what I bought it for but $80K is a lot. I could buy two just like it for that much, almost.

There are not many sports cars out there under $100K that will beat it on the drag strip. But when you throw in some curves then I struggle a bit but I usually run them down on the straights real fast.:meanie: Had a STI try to lose me last year, not a chance. I pulled him into my front bumper almost instantly after every curve.
But the best thing about it is that it is a sleeper. Nobody knows whats there until they are way behind. And there isn't another vehicle under $100K that can cover the ground offroad that it can and get back home faster than a sports car.

Oh, and today I got on the gas at about 40mph and the tires chirped, totally surprised the hell out of me. And these 35" tires.

But I'm sure Plank is more of a porsche man if you know what I mean.🤣

Yes, yes, Spyker. I was poking on the website despite being 1/2 asleep. I used to have a Saab 9-5 and thought that was a really fun car to drive, aside from the constant service issues. I heard about Spyker's bid and hopefully they'll save Saab, would hate to see it go. Though I haven't seen a Saab here in Fl in recent memory...

Plank, why don't you like your BMW?

I had nothing but trouble with my 530I, I love driving it but the reliability was terrible.
At the same time I bought a Toyota Sequoia and I never had to fix one thing in it.

I agree, plank would probably go for the porshe. Honestly, it is a nice car and very fun to drive. Very fast. But, for me not practical, three kids in car seats just are not gonna fit in a Cayenne. But in the tundra....For sure. I will get one someday but I am trying to put it off for a while. I have a v8 4runner 4wd that I really like and I really do hate to spend money on cars. I like the stealth aspect. No "supercharged" badges just kickas s power. Someday, someday...

I have absolutely fallen in love with the 4runner. I think its a GREAT car in every aspect. Now its just a matter of getting a residency in a cold, snowy place so I can push the "practicality" aspect of the 4runner to the wifey haha. Gotta figure out a story for the supercharger though 😎

The S6 is nice, if you want AWD, but it can't hang with the E63 AMG.
If they brought back the RS6 to the US... wow, pefection.

isn't the S6 comparable to the RS6 or am I mistaken?

Swiss court fines speeding millionaire $290,000

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100107/ap_on_fe_st/eu_odd_switzerland_huge_speeding_fine

"ST. GALLEN, Switzerland – A Swiss court has slapped a wealthy speeder with a chalet-sized fine — a full $290,000.

A statement on the court's Web site says the driver — a repeat offender — drove up to 35 miles an hour (57 kilometers an hour) faster than the 50-mile-an-hour (80-kilometer-an-hour) limit."

Are we that far away, Before you retire this new car. The roads will be lined with speed cameras, the speed limit will go up and down like a yo yo. With a speed camera strategically placed to entrap unsuspecting motorists.

I encourage you to buy a two year old Honda accord, Toyota Camry, or Nissan Maxima with the biggest engine and all the options. Other than having 20K to 30K on the odometer you will never be able to tell that you didn't buy a new car, but your wallet will know. You should be able to buy any one of these sedans for less than $20K with less than 30K miles and less that two years old. Plus you will not be driving a ticket magnet.

Great. Keep supporting the imports guys and nobody will be able to afford your medical services. This doesn't just apply to cars either. Continue being "flippant" about the role/value of manufacturing/exporting to an economy and we'll continue heading towards a second rate country. And this WILL begin to impact you in your career span.

Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, or Nissan Maxima are all made in America. I refuse to buy a car from a company that took bailout money from the government. That leave Ford at the only remaining untainted domestic auto manufacturer. Many of the cars produced by Honda, Toyota, or Nissan are made in the USA by non union American workers. Plus if the OP were to fallow my advice they would have saved $60,000 on their car purchase they could save for their retirement, retraining or to supplement their rapidly declining salary.

MARYSVILLE, OHIO - MARYSVILLE, Ohio, Aug. 21, 2007 – Honda of America Mfg., Inc. today unveiled the all-new 2008 Accord in Marysville, the town where Honda made history 25 years ago by becoming the first Japanese company to build a car in America. (If you want to work at the hospital in MARYSVILLE, OHIO you will have to work for the CRNA owned anesthesia management company that has the contract.)

Toyota Camrys are produced at Georgetown, Kentucky, USA. On April 20, 2007, Camry manufacturing began at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. in Lafayette, Indiana USA, with an intended annual production of ~100,000 units. Camrys manufactured in Japan are denoted with a VIN starting with "J"; US-made models are denoted with a VIN starting with "4".

The Nissan Maxima sports sedan changed its home address today as the first production model rolled off the line at the automaker's award-winning manufacturing plant here.

Especially in the South (no snow to plow through), do yourself a favour and get a Mini Cooper S with JCW package. Turbocharged. Front wheel drive. The John Cooper Works package takes the horsepower from 170 to 210 in a nice small but amazingly roomy car. The break-in period for my 2005 S was that for the first 1250 miles you had to stay under 95 miles per hour. Thats basically the only break in requirement.

I am 6 ft and not small. There must be a space/time warp thing going on because they are bigger on the inside than they are on the outside.

I have been driving for about 45 yrs now and this is hands down the "funnest" car I have ever, ever driven. Test drive one and you will know what I mean. My wife and I argue all the time about who gets to drive it.

Mine cost $23K, but you can get them more loaded. The one thing I regret is not getting the Limited Slip Differential.

Anyway, get one.

This what i got into this morning. Sure it's not fast, but... with 6 inches of snow on the ground this little 4x4 proved to be very useful and fun as hell. I pay $95 a year for insurance and has been payed off for 8 years now. I can't get myself to get rid of my trusted beast. :soexcited:

Further, many "american" cars, particularly GMs, are (or at least have been in the recent past) made in Canada and Mexico.

Of course... you also need summer toys.

G37s is a fun little deamon. You can get some pretty sweet mods that will style your ride and get you in the 4.5 sec. range. I picked mine up used with 3k miles on it. Payed 30k for a 48k street racer. Really nice on the inside too. All the bells and whistles. Much better than the inside of an M3 in my opinion.

If you really want to spend 80k... go for the GT-R.

I know you said you don't want a BMW, but eveyrone I know that owns one swears by them. Many of them have driven them 150-200k and still function like new (and this is in Chicago weather!).

Thus, I would get a fully loaded 535xi (4WD for winter driving). 🙂

Depending on your age, if you are ~45-50ish, I would get a fully loaded 7 series.

Here is what I have now:

For some reason I don't like the newer style, and I really had so many problems with it, but maybe I had a lemon although I bought it brand new.

When an American car company builds something I want in an American factory, I'll buy it.

Get a Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura. I know a lot of cool toys have been mentioned, but if reliability is the first thing, then buy Japan.

American cars especially Fords and Buicks have gone up in reliability probably now surpassing the Euro counterparts filled with electrical problems. Every Audi, BMW, Benz likely goes through electrical problems. I don't understand why. Is there no "incentive" to make a better one? Wonder if culture and politics influence this. They look cool, but just maintainence nightmares compared to the Japancars.

If I had the choice I'd buy exactly what you're riding around in. What a sweet ride! 👍👍😍

I prefer this one...

😉

Just kidding dude. Nice ride. Specially for a resident. 👍

Noticed the Germany license plate, and had to comment. I was cruising A6 near Ramstein around 210 kph. A Porsche just like the above flew past me. My God I thought I was going backwards. I absolutely love the autobahn, but not the $8/gal (1.33 euros per liter) cost for gas.

haha girly? Well, maybe my judgement is clouded on that one. They're fun to drive ... and all of the audi s models are nice. I have yet to see one or drive one and walk away feeling like I wasted my time. Most of the time I debate with myself about trading my audi for something newer.

try an w12 - I saw it, read about it.....Sister has one.
120k starting price.

Any of these suggestions giving you a buzz Plank? Almost 1100 views in a day...
