Hello, this is my first time on this forum and I've never thought about posting here before but I'm starting to get anxiety to the point that it's hard for me to sleep at night. I'm a third year in college and I should be graduating in the fall of 2019 and I can't be more excited about that. However, I obviously don't plan to stop just there. I want to apply to dental school and get accepted.
Up until last year I had minimal stress but after Organic Chemistry 1 my stress has been going up non-stop. Up until O.Chem 1 I've had 2 B's, those being in my Bio 1 and 2, and A's in my gen chems and physics classes. I ended up barely getting a B in O.chem 1 and ever since then I've had thoughts of stress. I keep thinking of the possibility of me messing up O.Chem 2 or Biochem. I know it's stupid to stress over getting a B in O.Chem 1 when I've had 2 B's in Bio but I'm starting to get worried because I've had no reassurance. I hear all these things about how dental school is a hard postgraduate program to get into. I need a minimum of 3.6 GPA, 200 shadow and volunteer hours, etc. And now I've heard that there are 11,000+ applicants each year for every dental school across the US. The only people I know who have gotten into dental school were upstanding citizens who were crazy smart so I can't exactly turn to them for reassurance. That's why I'm here today, I just want to know if I should be feeling stressed about my situation or if I can relax a little. Thank you.

Agreed with the blind comment. Even being in D-School, unless you're on the admissions board you can't fully talk about what ADCOMS want. And even then, only at your school.

That said, you'll be fine. I had some C's on my transcript in important classes, though only 1 or 2, and was able to get in a couple places when I applied. Though they were expensive places, so that's what you're really gunning for with good grades and DAT (the pricetag). Coming down to it, just work hard and apply, and don't stress it. Doing so only takes your focus away from school/applications when the actual worrying never helps.
Relax, you're fine and on par with the average dental student. Take most of what you read on this site with a grain of salt. It's mostly the blind leading the blind.

Thank you both. I've felt like I've been going into this blind so any voice of comfort helps. Again, thank you.

Stop comparing yourself to others. Even if you get a 4.0 and 25AA, there is still over 200 other students with better stats. Focus on putting in the best OVERALL applications and focus on your classes one semester at a time.

I was in your situation too, don't stress it so much. I got a D and 2 C+s in undergrad so far but as long as you improve yourself and don't continually get Cs/volunteer/shadow/ have an okay DAT you should be fine! The scores you see aren't representative of the majority of appliants who get in to d school. Just relax and enjoy undergrad while you can!
