Hi,

If I am on the alternate list for Boston....is there a good chance that I can get accepted....does anyone have any experience with alternate lists.....any help is greatly appreciated...

thanks a lot!

I know they take a lot of students from Canada. I also know that they asked a few students to retake their DATs for a chance to be put on their alternate list. The few students that refused the offer got rejection letters shortly after. They might accept you anytime up until the first day of school. Don't give up🙂

thanks for your advice britesmile...are you in Dental School yourself? As a matter of fact, BU asked me to re-take the DAT....and I did..my 2nd scores were really good....mostly 19....so now I am waiting and waiting..do you know anyone that was on the alternate list but got accepted...?

I don't know how true this is but I heard before that for bu and temple sometimes they have students on the waitlist move to their cities and wait during the first day of school to see if there's any new spots open (some people never withdraw their acceptance and decide to go to other school) and because they show such dedication to dentistry and the school...they might be accepted off of the alt/waitlist... (but you might want to call the school to ask if that'll help your chances...since this is only something i've heard and don't know anyone that has done this)

Hi Hopefulgirl,
I don't know anyone who got off the waitlist for BU yet, but I know that you need mostly 19's to get in. I myself am on a wait list to NYU. I feel your waitlist agony....Try calling up BU and make sure they got your new DAT scores. Then ask if moving down there will help. Schools are notorious for calling students the day before school starts. Best of luck.

Hi

I dont know if this helps...
I too am on the BU waitlist and about a week ago I got a letter from BU asking if I was still interested in remaining on the alternate list. The BU letter states that "there may be a number of spaces that become available...between now and August 1, 2003." I dont know if that is suppose to be a hint or just a tease but I am sure in the next few days they will be cutting down the amount of applicants on their alternate lists.

cgt3477...I got the same letter...thanks.... BU is my first choice and I really want to go there.... is BU your first choice, too??? Or are you going to another school? There must be a lot of people on their waitlist...but thanks for the feedback.

Hi Hopefulgirl

Actually BU was one of my top 2 choices. I really do like the school and I loveeee the city-but everytime I think of the tuition I begin to get ill. If you can afford to go there you should-The students I spoke to had nothing but good things to say about the school and faculty. The only recurring thing they kept telling me was that if given the option to go to a cheaper school that I should opt to go to that other school. So the major factor that made my decision was costs. BU's tuition as well as the cost of living in Boston is pretty high. I decided to go to NOVA partially due to the lower tuition and because my cost of living is relatively low(since my family lives in South Florida).

Best of Luck to you!
