so here is my situation... I failed an english course in my freshman year and i retook it and got a B.. now my GPA is 3.05 🙁and i have been doing good in my past two semesters (no C's).. i dont know if i should give it a shot and apply this year even though i havent even taking the DATs and i was planning on preparing for them until august .. is that enough time to prepare for the tests and is it too late to apply in august?? or should i just take a year off after graduation (2008) and apply for fall 2009.???? o and something else has anyone taken the online kaplan course?? which one is better the online or class meeting? and was it worth the 1000 dollars?? and lastly should i take the kaplan in summer (now) even thought im taking molecular and cell biology..??😕😕😕😕

Hey, it looks like you have a lot going on this summer!!! have you ever looked at the DAT materials before, when are you thinking about studying? If you havent started studying yet, have not gotten your letters of recommendation, or personal statement together, then its my opinion that you should have until next year to apply so that you can be confident adn have a better chance of getting in! Just my opinion.

I agree you have lots to do if you want to apply this year, but you could still do it. You should do a pretest and see how much time you'll need to get your target score on the DAT. If it's out of reach then you can either apply with a less than ideal app or save your money and come at it in a year. Even a long shot application is better than no application at all, if you have the money.

It's all up to you.

A year ago I was in the exact same situation as you. My GPA was slightly above 3 (3.03?) and I was wondering if I should apply or wait a year. I ended up deciding to wait a year to improve my GPA and take classes like biochem/physiology to help with DAT.

I also think it is most helpful (at least for me) to actually learn about the material first and take Kaplan later to reinforce the idea.

Hope it helps.
