I need help with finding some online summer courses. I am looking for an advanced biology course (microbiology, immunology, histology, cell and molecular biology, anatomy, physiology, parasitology). Any suggestions on where to find any of these courses?
Thanks!

Most of these are classes that run concurrent with a lab section. Hence, I think it's going to be hard to find them online. Maybe someone else knows a place you can take some of them though.

Go to the search this forum tab, type the word "online" and read the helpful advice given many times before on this subject on this forum.

Or did you want the info spoon-fed to you on a silver platter?

SoV is being a bit pre-allo this morning. 🙂

I would suggest looking up your state's public college system and just go school-by-school looking at their online course offerings. Search "online classes [school name]" or "distance education [school name]" and you'll most likely find the websites. Taking out of state classes, even online, gets expensive very quickly.

lol jeez SOV, is someone getting sick of repeat questions already? it took me about a year to get to that point...took you 4.5 months!

Admittedly cranky being seemingly the last person in the country finishing classes before going to vet school (finals next week), contractors flaking out on me, trying to coordinate moving, cars, trucks, dogs, and wives, etc etc.

Reading that just made me realize how lame it all sounds. Guess I am a bit of a brat. I'll try to be a good boy..

Hang in there for those of you still working on papers and projects and classes.

And Good luck to all of you starting out your applications. Enjoy the process.

😳

hey,
sorry for the repeat, i just found out 2 weeks ago that i need to take one more advanced biology course. due to my schedule i can only take online classes. the only advanced biology class that i've been able to find is genetics and i am currently registered to take that course. it doesn't matter to me if it is out of state or not since either way it's gonna be expensive. and oh the only advanced biology class that i can find online in my state in genetics.

I would still suggest looking through the archives for more suggestions, but I would highly recommend the histology course through CSU (colorado, not california). I have also heard good things about their anatomy class.

edit: oops, neither of those are offered in the summer this year (I took histology last summer, but I guess they changed the schedule). Oh well, maybe this will help someone else.

I've heard UC Berkeley Extension offers some good online courses...

They have quite a few of the courses you listed available. It looks like you can register anytime and then you have 6 months to complete the course, but don't quote me on that!

University of New England has rolling admissions for their online courses offered through the college of health sciences. They have Biochem, A&P( with lab) and some others, I think. I took the Biochem and found it challenging, but thorough. The prices are 800-1200, I think. Good luck!
