Hello,

I just wanted to ask some advice from anyone in this forum willing to help. I'm 35 years old and currently working as a Structural Engineer. I am seriously considering a career change and going back to dental school. It has been a life long dream since high school, but for personal reasons things did not work out. I am still very motivated to fulfill my dream but feel that I may have very large mountain to climb before I get there. I have a BS in Civil Engineering with an overall uGPA of 2.67 and a MS in Structural Engineering with an overall GPA of 3.43. I was wondering if anyone can give me some good advice as to what to do before I start applying for dental school? Am I too old to even go back to dental school? or Should I even consider applying since my GPA is horribly low? Thanks for your help.....

I answered a thread almost like this.

Like I said in the other thread, you're never to old to achieve a goal. If you really had a change of heart and want to pursue the dental field than I think you'll be able to do it. Your gpa is low, but have you completed any of the prereqs that are required for dental school? If you haven't I suggest you start as early as you can and get those requirements fulfilled. Also, try to go out and volunteer or shadow other dentists around your area to get an idea of dentistry. Good Luck!
