Hello everyone,

I'm a foreign trained dentist with BDS from Iraq, My GPA is very low 2.53 because my school was in a war zone and it was very hard even to get a patient with all violence and war circumstances. I'm a green card holder now and want to apply for 4 year DDS program not the international dental. My toffel is 103 and I will take the DAT next month.

My question is, would I have a chance to get accepted with this low GPA? would they understand it was out of my control type of situation? and also, I've heared that dental schools would actually favor my case since I got the dental schooling "just heared not sure" how true is this?

Please, I'm really down and can't focus on studying for the DAT because of not knowing if I even have a chance to get into dental school.

Why are you not applying for Advanced Stadning Dental Program(DDS/DMD)??
in your personal statement you can elaborate on the circumstances you faced and how they shaped your learning and understanding.

Because I didn't get the clinical exposure I need to be able to pass the bench exam required for acceptance into dental school. I just feel more comfortable starting dental school from scratch versus the international program.

consider taking training and practicing for bench at schools....
cheaper in the long run.

Thank you so much for your posts and wishing me luck. I appreciate it. I already scheduled for DAT exam in August and will start preparing for NDBE part I after that and take it early next year (God willing). Again, thank you very much and God Bless!

u will b taught evrything in the 2 yr advanced standing, why will u want to spent 4 yrs when u can get the needed training in 2 to 3 yrs u already knw the basic sciences
