I never wanted to post one of these "Hey do you think I'll get in" posts.

But, right now I feel like I need someone to honestly tell me what they think.

I don't have the best GPA, and I don't have amazing stats like most SDNers.

cGPA: 3.42 sciGPA: 3.1

DATs: taking them in July

LORs: 2 Dentists, 2 Professors

Lots of shadowing, president of cultural organizations, TA for labs...

schools: UMD, Howard, NYU, WVU, VCU, basically anywhere near-ish to MD (my home state)

what do you think? 🙁

Whether you get in is dependent ENTIRELY on how you do on your upcoming DAT. Honestly, you are going to need solid 21's to overcome that below average GPA. Unless you are a URM.

Dentaldawg is right... it really depends on your DAT. Study your face off and nail it. After you have your DAT scores.... you may want to consider reposting for advice/ideas on future options, but until then it is so hard to say anything!! Best of luck!! 😀

Really hard to tell without DAT scores. You'll need a 19 AA or higher to have a good shot. Post this after your DAT.

Study your ass off until July and nail that DAT. If you're not ready by July, don't rush yourself into getting a bad score. You'd have to wait another 3 months to retake it, and by then you'll be late in the application cycle. Make sure you're ready first. Good luck!

I would say wait for the next round. Pull up your science GPA and own the DAT early next year before application starts.

score a 19AA or higher and you'll be fine. You don't need a 3.8 to get into dental school.

I applied this past year with a 3.3 gpa, 3.2 sgpa, and 19/19/21 DAT scores. I received 3 interviews with an acceptance and waitlist.

So quit stressing and focus on your DAT
