Hey everyone, recently I've made up my mind to go down the field of Psychology, as I am just finishing my final undergrad year. I am looking at 3 options really --> Clinical psychology (possibly in neuropsychology), Neuropsychology, and finally I/O psychology.
As most know the scope for I/O psychology is great in the U.S with starting salaries close to 70 - 80k a year, and the averages at 110k almost, and im not too sure but it seems that there's a lot of career options available as well. It seems most require there to be a Doctoral level degree = PhD, however my plan is to a two year of MAsc (masters of Applied Science) in Canada, and supplement it with possibly an MBA.
Either way I can't find any information on this career's scope in Canada.
the only resources I found are the following..
http://psychology.uwo.ca/csiop/index.asp - CSIOP Canadian Society of Industiral Organizational Psychology
http://research.apa.org/des05.html -- scroll down to find.. "Most graduates reported median starting salaries between $51,000 and $66,000. I/O graduates were the exception with an overall median at $72,111. The higher salary is driven by the fact that most I/O graduates are employed in business and industry, consulting firms, and government settings. In fact, median salaries for doctorates in research subfields overall were also higher than those in practice subfields ($60,506 vs. $55,000 respectively)." - this is U.S thouugh..
http://research.apa.org/t10salaries07.pdf - salaries clearly show a high average..again in the U.S
So basically does anyone have any info on the SCOPE/SALARY of this field in Canada? (Also it seems most in this field end up either as HRM (Human Resources Manager) and Mangement Consultants)
