Not fold it to fit in a standard envelope, correct?
Opinions?
Thanks

Mine were all folded and the world has yet to end.
This. Cmon, you guys are over-thinking this.
Perhaps you haven't read this site before...Over-thinking is the name of the game on this site
Hmm. 6000 posts vs 60?
I know, I know...Just a little levity
But seriously, I know that getting into med school is super competitive, but is there any other profession where people obsess so much over such tiny details?
haha YES. post count respek. (this from a recent 1Ker 🙂)
Dude, owls are the way to go. Haven't you ever read Harry Potter?sending mine by carrier pigeon. any suggestion which specific species of bird i should use?
you guys didn't hire escorts to deliver the package and appease the mail boy in admissions?
You folks are always bitching about how much this process costs but you will spend extra for a large envelope.😕
Go with the smaller envelope and pay extra for delivery confirmation if you want to be anal. Don't waste your money on Priority Mail or Express Mail or a courrier service.
The photos are usually attached near the top, which allows a trifold to leave them neat and pretty.I'm sending in big yellow envelope. I don't want my passport photo to be crinkled.

Yeah I figured the photo spiel was just an excuse 🙂I still like big yellow envelope better.

Shipping large envelopes pales in comparison to the cost of applying to medical school 😉
what schools don't do it electronically?
Which is weird because if I got 13,000 applications, I wouldn't want them to be hardcopies.GW, for one.

I know it's stupid, but somebody who joined this month can't possibly tell Spurs anything he doesn't already know. lol

Yeah, plus some are using pre-paid flats which are $4.8x10 or $48 extra. If you go buy a standard 8X10/9X12 envelope, the easiest way to mail it is plop 3 stamps on it. 44X3 = 1.32, - 0.44 = 0.88. Ten applications sent in a large envelope will add up to almost $10 wasted.
Of course, a lot of people probably use large envelopes so they can "show off" when they take them to the post-office. Well, guess what? The postal worker will be making more than you for the next 7 years, atleast.![]()
Don't be wasteful just because it is a few cents... those pennies add up to dollars.

BigChubby is an adcom?Oh idunno... I suppose an adcom has to join at SOME point, right? 😛

Postage for:
A business size envelope is 44 cents postage,
A large envelope is 88 cents postage.
Delivery confirmation is 70 or 80 cents.
Certified mail provides proof of mailing and delivery confirmation, $2.80.
Priority mail starts at about $5 but you do get a free envelope!
Express mail flat rate envelope: over $17.
We don't judge applicants by the kind of envelope they use but if we did, I'd reject those who spend excessively for "peace of mind" when they could get the same peace of mind for far less money. These habits are what's wrong with health care spending.
Ah. It's just that there was an almost identical thread started hours before this one in which people said they used Priority mail flats. Speaking for myself, I got confused.really? spending an extra $1.24 - $3.24 so you can be sure that an important letter made it to its destination is spending "excessively"?
btw, noone suggested using priority or express mail...stop setting up straw men
