Icahn SOM Masters in Biomedical Science

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You don't see the track record because it's not published, which should be a concern. That said, from what I've heard from my n=3, the success rate is relatively high. The type of people they accept have with high MCATs and solid research experience but with low-ish GPAs for legitimate reasons (i.e. engineers), so if you don't fit that bill I wouldn't bother. Even if you are of that profile, I think for your money there are cheaper and more transparent options.

Got it, thanks for the info
That actually fits my situation pretty well (@engineering lol)
May I ask what other options you might suggest? Currently looking at UNC Nutrition and Biostat Masters and Georgetown SMP program

Nutrition and Biostats will be of no use to you if you are looking at SMPs.

Rough guide for MD route (emphasis on rough)
SMPs - low GPA (<3.3), high MCAT
More undergrad classes - low everything, GPA <3.0
MPH/Nutrition/fluffy MS programs where you don't take classes with med students - people who are already at >3.5 GPA + 31 MCAT but need an EC bump
CC - never the answer, unless its a 1-class warm up before taking classes at a 4-year place

Thank you very much @robflanker for the information
I'm actually on the border for these guidelines (3.3/32) but also lack a lot of clinical experience. I will look into more SMPs and talk with an advisor, thanks again!

Hi all,

It has been a while for this thread and wanted to know if anyone has completed this program successfully since 2014?

I am a non-trad predent, so if anyone has done this prior to dental school, let me know. Since I live in NYC (quite close to Icahn SOM, actually), it is definitely appealing. Rutgers-NJMS GSBS program is another option, but also an hour commute (not impossible, of course).
