I thought this might be fun way to pass the time until March 🙂 My friend's have told me that if I get in they are going to throw a huge party. Until they said that I hadn't really thought about celebrating! Even now I find it hard to think about anything other than getting my acceptance letter. I have heard of a few interesting celebration stories including skydiving, tattooing, and going to Disneyland.

What are you going to do if you get accepted?

Go to vet school (!!!)

Hahahaha.
Probably some elation, smiling, crying, laughing and talking happily to myself. There will be no party or anything. Maybe dinner or a drink. Maybe.

I went out and bought "tell me where it hurts". Such a great read especially after the moment u realize your dream is finally a reality!

Whoa, I just bought "Tell Me Where It Hurts" yesterday from Half-Price Books. Also got QED and an English to German dictionary. I haven't gotten in yet though...

When I do get in...uhm...there'll probably be a steak dinner involved, and maybe some shouting from the rooftop. And then medical bills for after I fall.

haha, if only i had enough friends to throw a party 😛 (or the money to go to disneyland!).

i cried, called my mom, texted my friends, and went back to work...

but what i will do! is recruit my bf to make that trip out to colorado with me so that i can see the school, check out the area, and most importantly get reunited with my birdies for the first time in 4 years (man i'm crying just thinking about that) and work out a volunteering plan with the sanctuary. this is the very first personal vacation i've taken in my entire life, so i'm very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I danced around my dentists office for a bit while screaming (I was there for a cleaning and found out thanks to my blackberry). When I got home I danced some more, ate some chocolate and my bf took me out to dinner that night.

I just keep having these moments of "oh my god, I actually got in..I will be a vet in 4 years. wow"

yes.. i have those too, as well as along the lines of man i hope i make it out alive!!

i screamed, ran around like a crazy person outside, called my boyfriend because i was away with the family, went skiing for the day, and went out to dinner when i got home 🙂

I haven't even applied to vet school yet (next application cycle!) and I've already thought about how to celebrate if I get in haha. Probably because I've had dreams of the moment where I finally get accepted.

First I'll scream/cry/run around the house/call boyfriend and parents/tell housemates. Then my boyfriend has said he'll take me out for a nice dinner and my parents said I'm getting their '06 Subaru (my first car 😳) as a "achieving my dream" present so I can finally drive between home and school without taking the bus.

I'm just about finished with that book. It's so good. I got it for $0.33 on Amazon 🙂. Pretty much the best deal ever

I actually found out from my parents since the letter got sent to my home address in NY while I was still up in Boston. My dad could not contain himself and called me and had my sister on the other line so she could hear me flip out. Then I had to act surprised again because my dad did it behind on mom's back...so my mom could hear my excitement 😀. Oh, I love my odd family. Of course I had a headache when I got the news so I didnt do much.

My sis did invite me to her place for new years for a new years/vet acceptance celebration, so Im excited!! I will also celebrate my acceptance by tossing my biochem book into oncoming traffic. Hmmm...maybe I should burn it first, then toss it on the highway :meanie:.

i will scream and cry. then probably go to dinner with my parents/aunt/uncle and another day go to a DC bar with friends or maybe a hockey game. either way, those delicious girl scout cookie shots will be taken!

Girl Scout Cookie shots? Are you talking about liquor or something else 😛

If I get accepted I am going to do the screaming/crying/running around. Then, I will probably have many celebrations. The people at work already said we are going to throw a party if I get in. I also have quite a few friends who will throw a party and my family will also throw a party. And then I will go to vet school!! 😀

Of course this ^ is a dream I have to get in first. :xf:

when i got my vet prep acceptance i was like "oh my god"(over and over again) and my sister was like 'what happened'. so i replayed the voicemail message to my family and i cried a little.

and right before we moved to colorado my sister took me to San Diego Wild Animal Park and we did the 2 tours and i got to feed a giraffe and a rhino! it was AMAZING. it hurt our wallets a LOT, but totally worth it!

The shots that taste like thin mint girl scout cookies lol. i looked up the recipe, interesting because i never knew what was in them before! but they are so yummy!

1/2 oz Bailey's® Irish cream
1/2 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur
1/2 oz peppermint schnapps or white creme de menthe

It sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I can't have any dairy when I'm getting my drunk on because it kills my stomach.

I was thinking about how I would celebrate... drinking sounds awesome, but knowing me, I'd just call up all my close friends, say "Guess what??!?", and then hope somebody treats me to dinner.

I stayed up all night, forcing my dear husband to stay up all night, and called everyone I could think of who wouldn't kill me for waking them up (including friends overseas) and started making lists of what I needed and such then went to a community meeting (environmental group) the next morning at 8am as scheduled and was asked if I was drunk because I was so wide eyed and giddy (I am normally a bit bouncy and upbeat, but this was over the top) and couldn't keep my words straight, I then proceded to do dinners with various friends, stayed up the entire next night, went to work at a vet clinic with cup cakes decorated to look like wolves (we are the wolfpack), and finally crashed that evening.

We had a nice bottle of champaigne and a great dinner at Melting Pot with my folks after the white coat ceremony since it was the first time I saw them in a year and since the acceptance.

We had lots of little parties and lots of email rounds because our friends are so spread out. We also took a vacation the summer before for SCUBA in the Dutch Antilles to celebrate and have some together time before living apart for 4 years. But....the lack of sleep for a couple days was the part I remember most and how grateful I was that I didn't have to worry about school, tests, etc like some of my fellow admitted students.

I hope you all have a blast celebrating your acceptances!

I've had this dream of me dressed in a full tuxedo falling to my knees and screaming then getting up and doing a cannonball into a pool and screaming underwater haha weird I know

Actually, that's pretty cool..you should really do that.

Go hug "my" pony, since he will be staying in MD (I tried to convince my friend that he wanted to go to vet school, too, but she wasn't buying it).

Dinner at Jaleo with said mean friend, who has been a big part of getting me this far, between pep talks, editing my P.S., and introducing me to the vet practice where I got much of my experience.

Hmmm, not a mint fan. Anyone know how to make shots that taste like Samoas? Mmmm, Girl Scout cookies, it's almost that time . . .

<-- not at all obsessed with food

Acceptance will involve copious amounts of liquor, that's for sure! I'll probably be on here adding my name to the list (and if i spell something wrong, you'll all know why!) I'll probably go out to dinner with fronds as well, especially if they get in as well!

There's some old shaggy dog story that ends with the punchline, "With fronds like these, who needs anemones?"

I will also celebrate my acceptance by tossing my biochem book into oncoming traffic. Hmmm...maybe I should burn it first, then toss it on the highway :meanie:.

Do you need to take biochem in vet school?? If so DON'T do this!!! As much as you want to!!! I got rid of mine in undergrad (regrettably) and had to buy another book in vet school 👎

Scream, cry, run and jump in crazy circles, call friends and boyfriend, tell family, kiss pets, pass out, and hopefully get a tasty celebration meal or summer trip at the end of it all. 🙂

probably re-read the letter/email 15 times to make sure that it's real 😉. then jump up and down, call my 'rents, go somewhere awesome to eat (California Pizza Kitchen, Maggiano's, Benihana), and then...do Irish car bombs for an hour or two. Probably polish off the night with a viewing of The Big Lebowski or Dawn of the Dead. I would also go rub my acceptance letter in my high school guidance counselor's fat face. (In hs, he told me that I wasn't "college material") :xf:

what a jerk! i would also like to rub my acceptance letter in my "prevet" advisors face (my pro-PhD, anti-DVM advisor- for anyone who missed my rant a couple months ago) whats with adults being so pessimistic??

Now there's an idea...my "prevet" advisor was a jerk too. He was a vet, and he told me freshman year, first semester, the first time i met him to not bother doing prevet, I wasn't smart enough anyway. I had a 4.0 in high school, and a 1450 SAT. How does that tell him I'm not smart enough <end rant, you've all heard it before and thinking about him makes me angry>

Wow, it sounds like I've been pretty lucky with counselors and advisors. Even if I had to do a lot of my own research about things specific to vet school, they were encouraging.

What about o-chem books? Can we burn those?

Mmm I've also decided as of today that if accepted, I'll be using a bit of what's left in my meager bank account to buy a unicycle. Then I'll be working my ass off to pay back some MBA loans so I can start scratching the surface of my UG loans.

lol i had a friend in hs who did unicycling. also, at UMD there were a couple guys who would ride their unicycles everywhere, even up and down steps in our mall. they showed off too much, but they were still entertaining to watch! i'm a biker, and i dont think i have the skill to do that haha impressive!

I have already decided that I'm going to buy an old VW Beetle. I had one in high school, and have regretted selling it for the last 20 years! So, after dreaming of getting another one for the last 10 years, I figure I'll have 2 "dreams" come true at once! The bonus will be I don't have to try to find parking for my Dodge dually on the vet campus😉

Scream like mad for several hours, laugh/cry hysterically, call everyone I know.
I really want to take a trip overseas this summer if I get in -- anyone interested in touring the UK +/- France, Italy, etc. for two weeks?

My aceptance letter from last year is still framed and hanging over my desk. 😳

ME!! I thought about treating myself to a trip to the UK over the summer if I get accepted.

I'm considering bumming around europe for the summer if I get in too

I was stuck in an airport when I got my acceptance, so I spent my 4 hour layover calling/texting everyone I know and trying desperately not to make a scene. 🙂 When I FINALLY got home to my apartment that night (I had been stranded for 3 days because of snow) I got thai take out for dinner and slept late the next morning for the first time in months. Since then I've been home visiting with friends and have had multiple celebratory meals/outings with various people. Basically LOTS of relaxing... I'm slightly non-trad and did all of my pre-reqs in about 13 months, so I haven't really had much time for relaxing in a LONG time.

I'm also in the process of planning a trip to France and Italy this May with one of the vets I work with, who also happens to be one of my best friends - so the celebration will definitely continue overseas! Lots of people have been asking me what I've been doing to celebrate, and I keep telling everyone that I'm going to be celebrating all the way up until the day school starts.

If I get in, I would totally be up for an SDN group trip to Europe.

I recently-and by recently I mean an hour ago- learned that Scotland (and Sweden) both have some sort of open-access policy, stating that you can camp freely all around the country, provided certain measures are taken. ie, you're supposed to be out of sight, and leave no trace. Apparently, you can even camp on private property as long as you're respectful towards the land and owner. I've never done any hardcore camping/hiking, but I was planning on doing something crazy the summer before I start vet school- hopefully this summer, so i'm considering spending a month or so just hiking around the country and pitching a tent wherever. I am in love with Scotland, and costs in sweden are insanely high, so I'm seriously considering heading across the pond over the summer.

If I get accepted..hell, if I get INTERVIEWS at my top schools, I will probably fall over, have a seizure, and pee myself.

Or nearly. At least there will be crying and eating things that are bad for me, as well as large quantities of alcohol.

One of my friends told me I should definitely get a keg...and I decided to class it up by having a "Dress as your favorite animal" party. I'm going to be a chicken, because I currently do research with chickens. I've heard lots of great ideas from my friends of what they will be (gorilla, hippo...) so I really hope I don't disappoint!😳

ditto to that my friend

I'm getting myself a guinea pig!!

the day I heard first... went out to lunch with people from work, had a nice dinner and made cookies and drank wine INSTEAD of studying for my biochem final like I had planned to do!!
