If applying Osteopathic how should you mention you applied to allopathic schools too?

I was wondering if during anyone's interviews, you asked if you had applied to allopathic schools as well. If confronted with this situation what is the best way to approach it? If they know that you applied to both would that hurt you? I want to be honest in my interview, just not sure what is the best way to tell them. 😕

Be honest. They know.
I was asked in my interview about MD schools and said I wanted as many options open as possible...They liked that answer :luck:

If you told either one of the application services the list of schools you applied to then be honest.

dont lie... no reason to hide it.

Yeah I definitely would NOT LIE to the admissions committee, just didn't know how to tell them. As you guys said I really just wanted to keep my options open, I know DO is where I want to go with my life, just wanted to apply to as many local schools as possible so sent md and do apps in.

Contrary to what other people are telling you and given the fact that I was ON the ad comm for UMDNJ-SOM, we REALLY liked it when people told us they were applying only DO. So lie, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY they can tell where else you have applied. If the guilt is too much, then tell them but make sure to be quick to say that you would choose a DO school for sure given an acceptance to both an MD and a DO school.

I guess you'll have to decide, but I told adcoms when I interviewed that I applied to both schools. I told them I applied to bunch of MD schools as well to maximize my chance of getting into medical school. I still got accepted. It may depend on how you present it too.

I only told when asked. They don't need to know unless they want to know. I still got accepted everywhere I applied to. It did come up at a few of my interviews. Just have a well-thought-out response.

Be honest... but FYI they do NOT know if you have applied to MD schools as well. Why would you tell AACOMAS or AMCAS all the schools you applied to? I don't think there was a place in either application for such information.

I simply stated that I applied to schools with good primary care programs, and that I applied to a good range of MD schools as well as a good range of DO schools-so that I would increase my acceptance chances. As long as you have well-though out reasons for attending DO schools and are genuine in your interest in osteopathic medicine, my feelings are that it will not hurt you at all.

At least, I was accepted at 3/3 places I interviewed at and I was honest about applying to allopathic as well as osteopathic. If the school is confident that they have something unique and great to offer you, they will make that know at the interview day.
