If AZ didn't call on Dec1st...Is there hope?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is anyone interviewing at ASDOH on Jan. 22? If so, PM me, I am flying in on the 21st, and I'm going to go exploring anyone who will be there (and isn't creepy) can come with me!

congrats on your interview, anyone else hear about acceptances? you, you??

Hmm...someone said that the adcom was meeting again on Friday (1/19)...Has anyone received letters from them recently?

Ohhh, I just read this on another thread....I hope it is NOT entirely accurate!!

:scared: I should have joined SDN a long time ago-- it's like therapy. I applied late and didn't complete my apps (LORs and all) until Dec 5-- Needless to say, I'm still in application status limbo with a lot of schools (mostly in the East Coast)... Interviewed @ Arizona Jan 8th-- but the odds are discouraging... They said they're planning on 400 interviews for 60 spots and that they've already given away about 40 something offers 🙁 Just terrified at this point as to whether I'll get in to dental school this year or not... I'm glad I'm not alone (don't get me wrong-- I still feel bad for those feeling the way I do...)

I was hoping they had filled less seats than this! Uh oh...guess I should start thinking about next year...and potentially an SMP...

40 offers is not that many cuz a lot of the people who got those offers also recieved offers from other schools. i am also waiting to hear from them and i interviewed in oct.

I have to agree with Redsox here. Though two-thirds of the class may seem like a lot, they are still only offers. I have no idea how many people accept offers, but it can't be 100%. There is definitely still hope. Good luck!

after-thought here.... Have they reached a decision on exactly how many students they are going to take for the 2011 class? I was under the impression that the final figure was still undecided, and thus 40 offers may be less than two-thirds of the class. Anybody....?

Good point...I was looking at it from my perspective (after visiting the school and falling in love with it above all others...but I guess not everyone will come to the same conclusion, let us hope 😛). As far as the class size goes, Joyce Haynie specifically told us that this year it would definately be 60, and "possibly" 80 by next year or 2009.

so what if 30 of those people have other offers and decided not to attend zona? do they only take 50 people for that class?

Yes, as far as I know they deliberated on the 18th-- I received a phone call w/an offer on that date-- I think they sent out offers by mail postmarked 1/18... So there's hope yet if your mailmen are slow...

People are asking questions about the number of people that ASDOH has accepted. Take this anyway you like, but today I received an email from ASDOH administration concerning ASDOH's insurance requirement for incoming dental students. There were 64 names on the email list. I don't know if that is everyone that has been accepted and in turn, sent in there deposit or if that is simply the number of people that have been accepted by ASDOH to this point. The email is addressed... "Dear accepted student"

Hope this helps out.

This may continue the unknown debate, but as I read over the email I referred to in my previous post, I notice that it is from A.T. Still University (the parent for ASDOH). I know ATSU has multiple programs from Physical Therapy to Dental. Perhaps some of those 64 names on the email are accepted to other health care programs offered by ATSU. In the email it does not say anything specific about the Dental Program or any other program. It just says "Dear accepted student...". Perhaps someone else who received the same email can tell us their perception of the email.

And the debate rolls on........ to be continued!

Well, I suppose you COULD email every single one of them and ask if they were offered dental school acceptance or some other school acceptance. I saw at least two names that were for d school for sure, 3 counting me, 4 counting driller. I don't think it's only for d school since I think I remember that only 20 spots were filled at my interview. The color of the walls kinda got to me, so I'm not too sure.

I just got home from AZ, and they told us that 38 people had paid their deposit, and the class will have 60 students, and, I think they said that 49 had been offered acceptance, but don't quote me on the last part.

how many more interview sessions are there?

They keep interview slots open until March. At least they did last year. I applied late, got a late interview, and still slipped in. There's always hope!!!!🙂

Then why in the hell are they still interviewing? They told our group that they will be interviewing through February.

Oh....I see what you are saying now. Nevermind.

I thought you meant that 49 offers in addition to the 38.

Did they say anything about when they will be meeting again, to send out any additional acceptances post Jan 18th?

I was accepted Dec 1st and withdrew shortly thereafter, but my name was on the aforementioned email about insurance requirements....

Thanks. That helps, and best of luck at Michigan. I'm sure you'll love it.

I can't wait to move back to AZ and finally begin dental school!!! Does anybody know the actual start date of classes? I have decided to move to Louisiana for a few months simply for an experience that presented itself, but it sure would be great to know when I have to be back in AZ:laugh: I haven't been able to get a specific date from anybody...

Anyone know which day, specifically, the adcom is meeting again to send out the last 10-15 offers? I spoke with Joyce and she said next week, but I didn't ask which day.
