If AZ didn't call on Dec1st...Is there hope?

I interviewed with ASDOH in October, and I just don't want to be pushy. If I get an acceptance to another school, then I'll call and see where I stand. I would look crazy if I grew a pair. . .I'm a girl!:laugh:

My bad! Sometimes you have to be a little agressive, though - it shows them that you really want to go to their school. I know it's hard, but in the end not calling will do you no good. Best thing to do in my opinion is to speak with your interviewer and ask him where you stand.
 
I did send an email about a week ago to the admissions office letting them know they should be receiving my transcripts from summer soon which will raise my GPA, and I "hope this improves my chances for acceptance". I think this probably lets them know I am definitely interested. . . what do you think?
 
Okay..I just sent an e-mail to [email protected] and recieved an email back them within an hour. They told me I was a strong applicant and my information will be sent to the admissions committee so they can make a deciscion. I'm not sure if thats what they are telling everyone b/c this is the same info they told someone else on sdn or this thread.

I just told them in my letter exactly what schools I've been accepted and where else I will be interviewing within the next couple of months. I also told them they were my first choice and blah blah blah...
 
yeah, they dont tell everyone that, I got the 'your not in the top tier, sorry' response so thats good news for you

I think this is great news. They pretty much told me not to get my hopes up. Good luck!
 
I'm still not getting my hopes up! I don't want to be disappointed at the end. I wonder what information they have where they determine if we are in the top group or middle. Gosh, I'm going crazy!! lol

Hey tisser where have u been accepted? I've emailed them before and got the same response (we'll add this to your bla bla). No mention of tiers. Im pretty bold so i think ill just ask them straight up what tier im in tomorow. I really dont care about anything. I'd make a good hitman.
 
You asked them before...what did they say? Yeah, you are pretty bold..i hid around the bush asking them about my status. I hope I'm in...it kinda sounds like I have a good chance but I'm still not getting my hopes up!

I didnt ask them my status i just wanted to add some stuff to my app. I told them it was my number one choice but I got a generic answer. I need tier info, pronto.
 
Sorry about all the waiting...

The first year I applied to ASDOH I was put on the waitlist in April, didn't get in and re-applied for the next year. There have been a couple of unanswered questions, so I will try to recap.

What's so great about ASDOH?

Everything. The faculty and the curriculum and the facilities really are "that great."

How many people are offered acceptance at a time?

Typically they send out about 30% of the class size worth at a time. I think this year they have sent out a few more than usual but I would guess there are still 20+ of the 60-ish spots left unoffered until the next waves of acceptance.

How many people offered acceptance really come to ASDOH?

LOTS! Most schools offer more than their capacity on Dec 1st because a lot of applicants go elsewhere, but not so much at ASDOH. I don't know any hard numbers, but most of the people who are offered acceptance come here because they really fit in here.

That is the key to what the "tier" or whatever you want to call it. It's not really grades, or DAT score or anything like that. It's all about how the interview goes and if the interviewers feel you match well with the school (philosophy, mission, everything).

A lot of people wrongly think that the interviewers are looking for a reason to dismiss you as an applicant. They are not. They are really just waiting for you to show them why you are exactly the person who they want.

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything from ASDOH since Dec. 1st. I had an interview their last week that went pretty well, and I'm curious to know how long it might take to hear back from them either way?
 
im guessing the adcom will meet in early jan, and then send out some more accpetances in mid jan, just my guess though.
 
I bet it will be before mid January because they will make offers to those who already have acceptance to other schools. This will be so they don't need to pay their deposits at the other schools.
 
I see three interview dates upcoming in January, so I wonder if the adcom will wait until these are done to send the next round of acceptances out, or if they will send some from the December interviews in the meantime? Hmmm....

not only will they send invites from the december people but from the people who interviewed before dec 1. i dont think people from the pre dec1 interviews have recieved rejection letters yet so they are still in the running as well. just a thought, not sure if thats how it works?
 
True...I didn't think of that...I just assumed that people who interviewed pre-Dec. 1st heard one way or another on the first. I guess not though..so now the question is...how many people have interviewed since the last round of invites, and still have not heard (either yes or no)? And how many people are left to be interviewed? Will they create this list through March and then send out all invites, or will there be the "top" applicants offered acceptance in the meantime? Hmmm...I hate overanalyzing....but then again, not thinking things through could be bad too...lol j/k...Ouch my head hurts...:scared:
 
I'm heading down to AZ on jan. 8 for my interview. How was it? I love AZ program! I'm a big volunteer/public health person and I absolutely love how AZ has their program set up. If anyone has any advice, please feel free to reply.

When did you turn in your secondary app. to Arizona? I just got mine in today. Is there any hope of still getting an interview? Thanks
 
I turned mine in by September, make sure you get yours in asap. Also call the admissions office as well to make sure things are going through...This will speed up the process and get your application to ASDOH
 
i have not heard of anyone getting in since the first round, but i dont know for sure
 
there is a person on predent.com that is listed under waitlist, how did this person find out about it? does anyone else who is on predents know who "Tikal" is on that site?

I was told that the ADCOM meets on the 8th and that there won't be any acceptances until after then. I can't wait, AZ is such a great school!

About the waitlist thing. They told us at the interview that you are either a yes or a no. If you were a no, you would find out pretty quickly. If you dont get a rejection than you are essentially on the waitlist which is than broken down into the 3 tiers that everyone talks about. That may be what the person on predents is thinking. Just my two cents.
 
Also, anyone that has been accepted after Dec. 1st, how did you hear? Was it by phone, mail, email, etc...Thanks :luck:

I hope sooner, I have a non-refundable deposit I have to make this week. Joyce Haynie said that the committee would make a decision on my file before deposits are due for first round acceptances. I'm praying that tomorrow I hear something.

I noticed there is a new fact sheet on ASDOH's website. It shows class size to be 80:

Average Science GPA 3.5

At my interview, they mentioned they may increase the class size to 60 this year. Did they increase it to 80 for class of 2011?
 
i saw the same thing but im not sure if they will get to 80 this year, i know they are working to get there one day

i wonder if its harder to get in if you interviewed before dec1st and didnt get in on dec 1st? do they put your file in the NO pile until the interview the rest of the people?
 
Am I supposed to believe that Tissy is the only one who mysteriously got an acceptance letter mailed to her. There has got to be more than just one person who has heard from ASDOH.

any one else here anything? i saw someone on predents got accepted on jan 3rd. are these people getting accepted before jan 15th the people who had acceptances elsewhere and called the arizona school to ask them where they stand and the school told them earlier than other people so that they didnt have to waste money on holding their seats at other schools?
