If I am applying this year, when is the best time to take the exam?

I have it currently scheduled for the end of May, do you think it would be okay if I pushed it back until June? Or is that too late if I plan to apply this cycle?

It will absolutely be ok, don't take the DAT until you are fully prepared. One of the biggest mistakes I see students make is taking the exam before fully prepared and resulting in a low score( you must wait 90 days to retake). Scoring high on the DAT should be your main focus.
