If I could remove one topic from the MCAT it would be...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Physics 2...its not that its hard its just tedious and a lot of formula crap!

I would also be in favor of them just making 200 bio questions and calling that the test..

id remove everything and anything related to second semester organic chemistry...ungh!

Agreed.

(# of questions they will ask you about Ochem II on your test date) / (amount of material you need to have memorized to successfully field those questions) = approx. 0.

Okay, maybe it's not quite that bad, but good grief. It's irritating!

I thought this could be fun, I'll go first. Name one thing you hate studying for the MCAT and wish you didn't have to.

If I could remove one topic from the MCAT it would be anything rotational in physics.

Agree 100%. Anything that have to do with translational and rotational motion should be excluded 😳

Physics...all of it. Seems pretty irrelevant, but it's obvious they are using it as a weeder subject.

Torque.

Never understood it. Never will.

I could explain torque to you. Force*distance, calculated as a vector at a right angle to the lever arm. That's the most important part; think of it at a right angle and use trigonometry to solve the 2 components, one at a right angle to the lever arm and one parallel to the arm (exhibits no torque). Same principle applies to see-saw problems and counter-weight problems, just set net torque equal to zero and pick any point of rotation you want (since the object won't be moving on the MCAT, it doesn't matter which point you pick)

My vote is for light and optics. Physicists can't explain to the general public what light really is and how/why it behaves certain ways, and I don't think I should have to know about it. I don't want to be an optometrist or an engineer.

I also vote for optics.

Not that it's a topic, but the metaphor I would most like to remove would be clowns being launched from cannons. I felt like every d*mn physics problem involved a clown with a death wish. For the love of pete, there are lots of things that can fly through the air besides clowns -- I think my MSAR would launch nicely.

what's with all the physics hate??

i would remove humanities verbal passages
on 2nd thought
take out verbal

Physics. . . in general. I actually find translation and rotational motion to be one of the only easy physics topics. If I had to eliminate one topic, it'd be either light and optics or circuits

For those who haven't taken it yet, what we're trying to say is that the whole test is a f***ing b*st*rd. So many things are hard...

Take out verbal and please don't make bio another verbal (this was my test last Sept. 13th.) I could not believe my bad luck!

I actually can't wait to take COMLEX and USMLE in a couple of years. At least, I won't have to deal with this darn verbal #$%^.

Cant say torque is my favorite thing, but definitely fluids and solids. never took the course, never learnt it in high school so its basically foreign to me

I would take out all of physics. I'm good with bio, organic, and verbal, and ok with chem, but I just dislike physics so much (my teacher was terrible). Some things were easy, but alot just irritated me.
