If I gave my letter writers one month to submit ERAS LOR, is it ok?

Is one month enough for most letter writers?

I thought about telling them to write it now and then submit it by mid september.

One month should be plenty of time / is the ideal amount of time, IMO. I don't know modern ERAS timing though, so that's assuming 1 month isn't also abutting the actual last possible day you want them submitted. (In other words, hopefully the actual due date is 1 month + 1-2 weeks to hassle someone who doesn't meet the deadline.)

September is later than you want. Try to have your letters in by end of August if possible. Sometimes you'll have a late subI. It can take up to a week for ERAS to process letters. Lots of posts here in Sept asking if it's OK to submit when you're short a letter. The answer to that question is yes - but you should try to avoid the situation completely.

Even if you follow up, be prepared to remind them every few days. Most faculty do things at the last minute, so the key is to redefine what 'last minute' means in their minds.

I'm not sure if ERAS for residency works the same way now, but for fellowship applications in recent years, letters have taken 5-10 days to process even after being uploaded, and no one seems to know why and it seemed like half the applicants didn't have all their letters processed by the submission date.

Do you use ERAS for fellowship applications?
