If people with complete dates later than me are getting interviews....

does that mean I've been skipped over and I'm all but guaranteed to be getting a rejection?

I've been following the interview invite thread and I see people with secondary complete dates past mine that are starting to get interviews to specific schools I've applied to. In many cases I have better stats than some of these people as well, but in any case, is it safe to assume I'm getting a rejection or have been put on hold at these schools?

Neither, you're still in the running. Until you get a hold or rejection, you are still in the running for an interview no matter how long it takes. Then, there are schools that look at everything an applicant has done - not just focusing on stats alone.

Nope, just assume that there must be something on their app that helps them stand out for the specific mission at that school. Some people just line up at certain schools. It is still too early to worry. If you dont start hearing anything by October then I would start worrying.

Nah, you really cannot compare yourself to other applicants on a forum like that. SDN only represents a very small sample of the actual applicant pool. Not to mention it's only August. Interviews have hardly even begun.

Possibly. But patience is a virtue!

Ughhh.... This is going to be painful
Just stay the course man, its definitely tough. You just have to trust the system. It is definitely hard seeing schools interviewing (and even accepting in some cases already) people who have lower scores. But you have to have faith that they were invited for very specific reasons related to the rest of their application. One of these schools might eventually look over your application and feel like you are the guy/gal for their school. It just takes time...

I've gotten one interview invitation so far. I was moved to tears with relief. After working towards this dream in one way or another for over 20 years, I'm unbelievably close.
2 days later I was already disappointed that I didn't have more. I'm trying to do a better job of appreciating where I'm at, and not letting my anxiety sully up the experience.

SAME exact feelings. But as Goro has said time and time again: Patience is a virtue!

I feel same way. Got an ii early from western...then nothing else and I'm feel ing the anxiety creep in on me...

At this time last year, I had barely been transmitted by TMDSAS, and less than 6 months ago, I was trying to fight the urge to just run to Carib. Glad I stuck it out.
Assuming the interview goes well, from here on, I'll be glad to have the problems I have. I had a few more secondaries I was going to fill out, but at this time, I've got over 10 DO apps complete. I don't think I would pick either over the school I have an interview at, and don't really think they're much of a good fit for me anyway (no ties to region on one, which has somewhat of a preference; other school doesn't seem to have any mission whatsoever) I can actually relax a little, read a book that I want to read, and stop checking my phone while I play with my little boy. 🙂

It's natural I'm sure. We're on the good side now though. So many others would easily trade with us right now, including ourselves a few months ago. Like I said, so long as we don't flub our interviews, our problems are good ones.

All the best to you guys. One step closer.

It's going to be a long process, and it's going to seem even longer because you're so close. But the only thing you can do this cycle is stay sane and prep for your interviews. If you don't get accepted this year then don't fret: everything is ready to apply immediately next year.

Good luck to you. Most of us are just as nervous and insecure at this point. You're not alone, and you're probably better off than you think you are.

Are there any schools that do silent rejections? I have quite a few that I've been complete at for a while, but I haven't heard anything, good or bad.

mind sharing your stats + schools you're waiting to hear from?

I sympathize with you, nontrad. After giving up a good career and completely changing directions to pursue medicine I'm having a lot of "so close, yet so far away" feelings. Gotta pull one out for the non-traditional student crowd... And I'm confident we will. Keep on pushing... Well get there some day.

I'm right there with you...walking away from a business I've spent the past 5 years building to go back to medical school....I'd be lying if I said some days I don't doubt myself..

I was put on a six-month pre-interview hold by a school which later invited me to an interview and accepted me.

It can and does happen. If you accomplish anything during your wait (grades, MCAT, etc), send a brief email with the update and a note about how much you want to interview at the school.

One thing that kept me sane during my application cycle was to stay off and limited my time on interview and school specific threads on SDN unless I had a specific question (I still looked at the general forums occasionally). You will drive yourself crazy and become overly anxious if you keep checking. It is still early in the application cycle, so take a deep breath, don't lose your confidence and find something else to take your mind off of it. 🙂

Stats are c3.3, s3.15, post-bacc 3.8, 29 MCAT, non-trad. The schools I haven't heard from are undoubtedly top heavy schools: DMU, CCOM, AZCOM, NOVA, COMP-Northwest (I was rejected from Pomona). I mean, I have 5 interviews so far, so I am very grateful for that, but it would be nice to know where I stand (even if rejected) so that's why I was wondering if any school just rejects without letting anyone know. I was complete at all the first week of July except COMP. I was complete there late July. I have learned to be patient, and I just have to remember to not get caught up on everything here.

we're pretty similar; 3.3/3.5/3.9/30 nontrad. which schools gave you interviews?

I have interviews at LECOM-E (I'm in Erie now!), KCOM, ACOM, SOMA, and University of AZ which is MD. I also received IIs today from Touro NV, NOVA, and PNWU. I did not expect this kind of response, so I am a little shocked, but incredibly grateful.
