If you could redo your premed experience, what would you change?

For those who have graduated or are nearing graduation.

Personally, I would have tried to connect more with professors I cared about. Unfortunate circumstances made it difficult for me to do so, but I think it was definitely something that I didn't consider enough.

I would have actually been premed my first 2 years of college and started looking for research positions early on. Instead I changed my major a couple of times and didn't do as well as I would have liked the first 2 years. Last 2 years were straight A's...

I would've accepted a little bit of student loans so I could've lived a little easier and not worried about money so much. And have less credit card debt at the end of it all.

I would have taken student loans so I could focus on my grades. I would also majored in basket weaving or something else obsecure that is equally as useless in the real world as a biology degree. I would have spent summers doing research and volunteering instead of working. I would have also started prep for the mcat at the end of sophomore year.

Picked up my grades as freshman. Change my major to math/physics, but I don't regret anything.

I would have taken the MCAT in a more realistic way. As it stands, I had to teach myself Physics II because I was desperate to take the old one. In retrospect, that was a mistake that lowered my score. Although I would be hesitant to change anything about my pre-med experience because it all worked out exactly as I could have hoped and I wouldn't want to create some weird butterfly effect.

Definitely a bummer I goofed my first 2 years of classes. Dropped my GPA badly. Maintained a 3.75 over the next 80 credit hours, but my app is still judged by those first two years despite a good MCAT score..

DO schools have been incredibly friendly to me, but I would definitely have a better chance of staying in-state for MD schools.

I would have smashed more chicks. They were couple that got away that shouldn't have. Other than that nothing other than I wished I spent my time learning Spanish.

Not to derail the thread, but that sounds so predatory! Like you had them in a trap and they escaped. I know you didn't mean it that way, but I'm just saying...
