If you don't match for Intern, can you sit the year out vs scramble?

Just wondering, with DO match tomorrow. If you don't end up matching at any program - but truly just want to go to a certain program rather than scrambling for another... What happens if you decide to take a year off and not scramble and retry for that position in 1 year?

Out of curiosity, DO match is tomorrow? How does that work w/matching into spots? Are the rank lists separate then from MD lists that the schools put out?
