If you submit primaries only, will you be considered a reapplicant next cycle?

I have my primary verified and got some secondaries from schools (applied to 10 schools total).

I was scheduled to take my first MCAT exam last week but was unable to do so.

I plan on applying now for the next cycle (for Fall 2012) and taking my MCAT in January. I won't submit any secondaries or LOR's to the schools this cycle.

When applying for the next cycle, will I be considered a reapplicant? If so, most ask how I have improved from the last time I applied. Does this have to be a drastic change because I don't think I will have a lot to add/change.

Current Stats:
3.25 sGPA (will improve this semester after retaking two science classes)
3.36 cGPA
100 hours shadowing DO, 60 hours shadowing MD, 30 hours shadowing another MD, 2 years pharmacy technician, current job (2 years+) dialysis center, current research (1 year) on cortisol studies, volunteer EMS (non-EMT), plenty of LOR's

Thanks for your help.

Yes, you will be considered a reapplicant and must designate yourself as such on AMCAS/AACOMAS 2011 for those schools that received your primary this year.

You seem like a good applicant, why didn't you take the test and apply? At any rate, just make sure to study real hard and be ready before June 1st of next summer.

Had an incident come up so I wasn't able to take it. I will definitely be ready for the next round.

Do you know what changes I would have to make to answer "how have you changed from the last application cycle?" And should I notify the schools that I'm withdrawing my application or would that be a bad move (meaning just let it be placed on "hold")?

That's not necessarily always the case. I would say no, unless they specified otherwise. A number of schools I applied to this year specified that you had to have completed the secondary or been considered "complete" to be a reapplicant.

Think about it this way, if you ask a girl for her phone number, but then never call her you can't really say you dated her. While the potential was there, there was never any follow through beyond initial interest and an exchange of information.

Think about it this way, your analogy makes absolutely no sense. At least for AMCAS (and you can look it up in the 100 page instruction book), if you submitted a primary the year prior, you are considered a reapplicant for each individual school.

I'm interested in AACOM / DO to clear up any confusions. This isn't stated in the CIB so I wanted to make sure

I guess you're right: (from manual)

"If you have a processed AMCAS application from a previous application year, you are considered
a re-applicant to those medical schools. This is regardless of whether or not a secondary
application was completed."

I must be thinking about secondaries.
