Hey all,

I just got an II from one of my top choice schools. Exciting! Unfortunately, the interview is 6 days away and on a day I have a test (the professor requires 2 weeks notice to allow a reschedule). :scared:

Is it considered rude to try to reschedule the interview and is it normal to get notice this late? It seems very extreme as I must book a flight and alter my entire schedule for 2 weeks to accommodate. I'm emailing the school tonight but I was just wondering if anyone had opinions or experience with this type of issue.

Thanks!

I've had to reschedule, and it wasn't a big deal. The only issue is that the alternative date was way later than I would have preferred, but what can you do? Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Ask the prof if you can take it earlier and explain that you did not know you would be needing to reschedule until just now. Chances are if your reschedule doesn't confer more study time than your classmates, they might let you take it early instead of later.

Sounds like maybe they had a last-minute cancellation and decided to try to fill in the spot? When I was applying, most of my interviews offers came at least a month in advance, and I was usually given a few different possible dates to choose between.

Is it a class where they drop lowest grade? If so just skip it.

If not, just tell your prof and he/she should be understanding. It is a legitimate reason. If they won't let you take it later, try to take it a day or two earlier. If they still won't accommodate, go to the dean of your school.

Just remember, your interview is way more important than the test.

You can always call and reschedule. If not, your grades don't really matter this year as long as you pass your classes to graduate.

Yeah, agree with this. That said, you should try and accommodate your professor and see if you can change the interview date. Tell the school that you have an exam that day and given the short notice it's difficult to make arrangements. If the school is less than understanding, then your interview takes priority.
