I was complete around the second week in October for most of the schools (darn LORs slowed me down 3-4 weeks)

UIC: Applicant in Process (changed today 12/1)
Rush: ???
Rosalind Franklin: ???
Northwestern: Rejected
UChicago: Pre-interview Hold
Loyola: ???
SUI: Screener's Alternate
 
After being rejected from UIC, I see no hope whatsoever from Rush, Loyola, and RFU. Has anyone else been shafted by UIC?
 
dont say that. the schools are looking for different things. i have no love from the state school either.i really hope u get inn

i wouldn't worry, drvannostran. every school has different criteria. this whole process is crazy! i am sure things will work out for you. :luck:

Hey, for people who say that the Northwestern status page is wrong, how did you find out? I ask because mine still says "under review," but I strongly suspect that I have already been rejected (purely out of pessimism). Did you just call them?
 
Anyone get the "hold" e-mail from UIC? I never received but when I call them, they say I should have received it....😕

My status page said "under review" (and still does) but I got a rejection letter in the mail about two weeks ago...
 
Why is UIC being so mean to their in-state students? I mean seriously, I go to U of I and am scheduled for Jan, yet I personally know two out of staters that have already interviewed...damn you UIC!

Yea, I called them and was told that I'm still under consideration. Having been "under review" for over 3 months, I'm of course still assuming that no good news will be coming. But I suppose there's a reason I haven't been flat out rejected yet, so who knows...
 
I don't know why I didn't mention this earlier, but I too got my interview set up with UIC (at Rockford). I'm going next week, I scheduled it the day before Thanksgiving, and I was complete in September. Even though I live about 10 minutes from Chicago's campus, there weren't any spots available, and I wasn't willing to wait until more opened up. The sooner the interview, the better (my two cents). Wish me much luck!!

PS: Anyone have any experience with interviews on Rockford's campus?

I don't know man but I got rejected for not being diverse enough. When I called to ask about my application they said my numbers were fine and my ECs were ok but I wasn't diverse enough for them. Oh well.

You weren't "diverse" enough? Are you serious?
 
LAME excuse. That's about as good as mine (I applied last year and was not accepted). They told me everything was great- they don't know why I wasn't accepted and they weren't sure what I should do to improve me application. Gee, thanks.👍
 
UIC said that they have a record number of applicants this year. I imagine it is getting harder and harder for in-state applicants to get into the school.

I applied early to UIC (Complete on 8/29) and haven't even been reviewed yet. What's going on?! I called and they confirmed that I haven't been reviewed yet (they said I'm not on hold, haven't been rejected ...)

I'm an in-state student ...

All this talk about UIC makes me glad that it was the one IL school I didn't apply to. Two semesters of psychology? Pssh, yeah right...

Question for you all: what is the story with Loyola interviews? My interview went fairly well, but it appears they reject 50% of the people they interview. What is the system of holds etc?
 
received the UIC "your application has been reviewed and no decision has been made" e-mail on Friday from UIC. I interviewed on 10/18...

Yeeaaahhh :clap: THEY DON'T KNOW WHY YOU WEREN'T ACCEPTED ????? Wow, at least with a solid explanation like that you know the process wasn't/isn't arbitrary 😉

after an interview you get....
Either you get 1. accepted 2. they need more information to make a decision or 3. hold (i believe its ranked) 4. rejection

The dean of admissions told me that the waitlist action depends on the year. sometimes there's a lot sometimes barely any. the adcoms just met on November 20th and i think they only meet once a month. Loyola wants to create a very specific atmosphere and thus will only choose students who they feel will contribute to it. And no matter what your scores are, if they feel strongly that you dont gel with this atmosphere, they wont hesitate to reject you.

that being said, i really like loyola. it seems to be a very supportive place to learn.
 
So apparently Rush has appointed new members to its admissions committee and are currently in the process of training them. Therefore, they won't be making any decisions on anyone who's already been interviewed. Before anyone asks me, they emailed me this information.

What do u mean they won't be making any decisions? You mean not anytime soon? Did they tell say when we should be hearing?

I mean not anytime soon, probably after christmas for the first batch, not as they had intially stated - 2 to 4 weeks.
 
Well, I guess now I don't feel so bad about not hearing from them yet- I'd be waiting pre or post interview either way for them to get their group groove thing goin'.

for those of you who have interviewed at uic, how long did it take after your interview to go to the decision pending stage? and how long after decision pending did it take to get a decision?
 
Stupid questions regarding University of Illinois system?
I know the medical school exist at 4 places.
Can you decide where you wanna go or is it first come first serves?
I'm interviewing at Chicago as an OOS and just wanna know... I want to be in Chicago for sure...
 
After you're accepted, they send you a postcard where you rank the four campuses in order of preference for attendance. You've got it right though- essentially it's first come first serve. So get that postcard in!😀

Isn't that a lawsuit waiting to happen? I remember some time ago there was a story about a Michigan undergrad program awarding more points to race than ACT score. I believe it went to the supreme court. Same rules apply here, right?

[This is in no way starting a URM debate. I'm just saying that they should give a better reason to reject a competitive candidate]

as a wolverine alum I am quite aware of this issue. They gave 20 points for being an URM and a total of 16 points max if you got a 36 on your ACTs. The point system has been ruled unconstitutional since then, though race can still be "considered"

But I doubt this is what they meant when they wanted him to be a more diverse candidate. Rather, more diverse in terms of experiences.
