I’m becoming suspicious about my acceptance letter...

So I had received a letter in the mail with a Gannon University envelope address, a letter with the GU letterhead, and another document indicating what they have on file for me prerequisite wise. They give a link to type in and go pay the 500 dollar deposit. I attempted to pay twice with a credit card (these cards have very high limits and used before with no problem) and it kept saying there was an error and to contact the bank. The bank does not have any record of even attempting to make the transaction. I called the customer service of the transaction online website and there was not really an option I felt I could pick.

I was about to switch and use the e-check option when I stopped to think if this is possibly a scam? I mean it seemed secured with a https:// and it seems official but Gannon is on Fall Break and I cannot reach them and I just find it all strange that it isn’t working and I am hesitant to give direct bank information. Am I overthinking this? I will be so upset if this is somehow a scam and they have my personal information.

I would suggest waiting until they are off break and calling them just to double check / trouble shoot.

I would certainly wait to talk to them. Deposits shouldn't be finally due until January 15, so you should have plenty of time. Hope it all works out.

I would just call the admissions coordinator and ask them directly if you were accepted and what you should do about the payment. And explain how you tried paying but it kept saying error. And they should be able to tell you.
