My wife and I are trying to figure out how much we want to study during our thanksgiving break. Are we the only ones battling with this? I've NEVER studied during thanksgiving before, but with auscultation finals coming and a host of other finals on the horizon, I feel like I need to look for a little stuff.

M1 year, I was stayed with friends, and I studied some Netter when most of the family wasn't awake. We were in the pelvic/Lower extremity block, so sometimes, it was awkward with the plates I was staring at.

M2 year, I drove to Denver with a friend, took my books, and I didn't study at all.

This year, I still don't even know if I'll have Thanksgiving off or not. =(

Been in the middle of a brutal 3 week stretch but take my last exam for the next month on Wednesday - which sucks - but rocks cause I have nothing to do and nothing hanging over my head all weekend.

I'm on call Thanksgiving. I'm hoping there aren't too many sick kids that day and I'll "get" to study.

Dang I can't believe they put a 3rd year on call during Thanksgiving..
👎 I hope thats not what I'll be signing up for during 3rd year

It's really not that uncommon to be on call or in the hospital on a holiday. I chose the same elective that a friend of mine had 2 years ago, and he had Thanksgiving off because I thought I'd get it off too. My residents switch as of this coming Monday, so while I have no clinic duties, I may have inpatient responsibilities. I'd really just like to know. Everyone's "deferring judgment" on the incoming PGY-5, when I asked what the new team will be like.

Yep ... I'm on call the Friday after Thanksgiving, which makes it difficult to go home since it's only one day off (long commute). 🙁

I'm flying from VA back to CA for Thanksgiving. I'm going to study in the airports, on the planes, and during those early morning hours when my fiance and family are still sleeping, but I'm awake. (I somehow always wake up hours before everyone else.) Other than that, I'm taking a break. It is a bit scary though to take a break right now because I have my second anatomy test 3 days after I get home. I'm studying like crazy this weekend and the next two afternoons in order to make sure I'm completely caught up.

Enjoy Turkey day everyone!

I've already figured that one out, but you're not the only one.

Wed eve-Sat morning. Family time/relax...

Sat-Sun, hit the books.

Pretty much my plan except I might study a little Wednesday night -- my husband has a test that night, so I might as well studying while he's taking it. Of course I also need to get some baking done (spending Thanksgiving with his family), so I might do that instead. 🙂

I don't think I studied last year, but we had two mini exams the week of Thanksgiving so I was pretty much caught up. Not the case this year.

Looks like it depends on your school. My school gives mandatory time off Thanksgiving day and the friday following, and 3 weeks off during the Christmas/Hannukah holiday. I really thought that was standard, but apparently not 😕
