Behavioral Sciences are just common sense blah blah that some egg heads make up fancy names for and twist it around to see if you can memorize super stupid feelings crap. What are your opinions on doing away with this section of NBDE II? I'm all for never having to listen about dental fear again "OH MY GOSH!!!"

Ur a very cool guy. Im sure ur very manly. Now grow up

Also to add to this. I've found myself to have to be a psychologist more and more. What are u going to do when a patient tells u they're scared? Are u going to tell them your not into feelings? What about the old lady who wants to talk about her husband passing away? Your going to have to learn to talk about feelings if u want to be able to relate to ur patients at all

What !! if you stay like this no patient will come back to you again.i totally agree with you Omarlat ! you cant be a Dr if you dont know how to listen and how to be compassionate with every patient !
Trust me, u will know this indeed, after graduation and begin a real work when people pay you money.
I actually was amazed that they teach this in North America, while in my university no one would give this any importance. maybe because lawsuits are not that often😛.
when i worked back home, i always asked my self why they didnt teach us psychology !!! i felt like i really neeeeeed to know to understand peoples mind and how to deal with special situations ! you will have patients from aaaalll kinds ! and u cant select your favorite ones !
You'll face fear, skepticism and high expectations. All are feeelings not amalgam/resin filling !

If you pay attention to my blog entry Omar from ******istan, you will notice my objection comes more from the study of completely common sense material and trying to make it complex for the sake of being relevant, not from applying said common sense to people. You are a tool for telling people to grow up. Learn how to read and retake the TOEFL.

We wish that every thing in medicine or dentistry was just about common sense. Though it is mostly that, but everything we know has to have a scientific back up of what we do, so we know why we do it. I guess club the study and the common sense together to make a deadly combination/clinician.

1) Omaralt knows what he's talking about, and he's absolutely correct. I encourage you, however, to continue disregarding the psychological dimension to dentistry. Dental students like you, who are convinced before even graduating from dental school that they know matters and what doesn't in real-world practice, become dentists who hate their profession, never figuring out that the real problem is, was, and always will be their own suffocating pride.

2) My opinion regarding the NBDE is that I'm for retaining any portion of the test that makes you this angry and hateful about it, because the vitriol of your response announces clearly that you haven't learned any of the information being examined.

3) I'm all for never having to listen about dental fear too--but you picked the WRONG profession for that, hombré.

4) I don't really care if you like me or not. If, however, you choose to respond to me in the same disrespectful tenor you used with omaralt, I promise by the time you return to look for a response you will not have an account to look with.

Your move, ace.

Dear Bill, thanks for your reply. Have great day. I look forward to your future comments.

You totally showed him that you don't need to grow up...

You should also probably watch the racist rants considering it probably wouldn't be too hard for people to figure out who you are with the info you've posted on here.

Seriously, grow up.

first off, you ignorant ***** redneck... maybe you should stop eating mayo sandwiches and f*cking your sister long enough to leave the house you were born in and see the world. i love how your assuming because my name is omar i'm from -istan country and i'm a foreign student. for your info, i'm american, born and raised here, went to american dental school and now own a practice. i make more money then you'll ever make, wanna know why? it's because i know how to talk to patients and talk to them about their "feelings". so go back to your backwards mentality, and continue living in your bubble.. i honestly feel sorry for you..

ps.. do you even own a passport... serious question
