hey guys.....

okay....so i guess this type of thing happens to some people at some point......so now its me 🙂

i have made a last minute decision to switch from another field into internal medicine for a pgy2 position.........considering its JUNE 13th!! ahhh!! im very desperate.....i am hoping someone knows of an internal medicine position available in new york for this july! please help me ifyou can 🙂 thank you

I can't say that it will happen, but I've never heard of someone going into IM as an IM2, without having to start as a medicine intern. IM is like FP, Peds, Surgery, or Ob, that is a "primary" (NOT "primary care") residency (ie, if it's something you can do a preliminary year in) - you can start it and go into something ELSE as a PGY-2, but not the reverse.

i have already done an intern year and now i have nearly completed another year of another residency and would like to continue now with a second year of IM 🙂 ....if i can at this point!!

Based on the information I have gathered, when you switch residencies from one specialty to another the maximum credit you can get is 6 months. But if they are desperate to fill a spot they will find ways to get you in.
