Hello everyone! I am an us md student applying to IM this fall. I recently got my step 2 score and I found out I got a 212 and I actually got a 236 on step 1. I really had a bad step experience (I lost time on block bec of time it took to go back into room ) and I was really burned out when I took the exam and thus did not study as well as I could. I have passed all my third year clerkships( no honors). I had to retake 1 course in my second year. In addition I will not be doing my subi until after application are due. I already have my recommendations for IM.
I was wondering if I can still match into a nonmalignant im program ( I don’t care it’s ranking as long as it is not malignant). Also how should I go about finding which programs to apply to ( Frieda and Texas star database usually don’t show step 2 scores that are around mine). Also how many should I apply
Thanks I just really want to match

Sorry to hear. I'd say you still have more chance of matching than not. At this point try not to worry about things you cannot change (I know it is easier said than done)

Apply broadly. Definitely apply to academic programs and community programs. Do you like your home program? If its an academic place, you can meet with them and they might overlook the step 2 since they know you well. Just prepare a good answer for the interviews when you get asked that. It will come up and you need to practice a convincing response.
