Hello. So it looks like I won't get my CS results till Oct 9 at the very least. I don't feel ready for the CS yet since I have a busy rotation and other personal stuff coming up. My step 1 score is 236 and CK is 248 and I'm a green card holder. That's all I have going for me right now. I come from a crappy carib school, don't have research or pubs, no extracurricular stuff to show and will probably get average LORs. I will be applying to lower tier programs and some better programs for IM mainly.

Do any programs give out IVs to IMGs if their step 1 and step 2 ck are above average without a CS result yet?

Thanks.

Due to the 2012 CS score delay, my score didn't come out until Oct. I got many interviews before my CS score came in but I'm a US grad.

Thanks for the response. But ya being a US grad is a different story.

Probably. But I don't even understand why this is an issue unless you're considering not even applying this year. Just apply and let your CS drop when it does. The sooner the better of course, especially given the new, accelerated timeline, but unless you're going to just bag the whole thing this year, it doesn't really matter that much.

Yes I am applying this year. You're right but I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I'm not totally screwed.

If you're looking for someone to lie to you and tell you everything's going to be OK, you're asking the wrong dude.

Things are probably going to be fine, but there are no guarantees.

Actually, there is one guarantee. If you don't apply this year, you will definitely not match this year. That I can guarantee.

Thanks for your input gutonc. I want the honest truth, I'd like to think I'm old enough to handle it.

I come from a non big 4 carib school applied before my CK came in and had plenty of interviews. The fact that the day the score is released coincides with the Deans' letters being released is also good news for you. The green card also helps big time. I'm just not sure how PDs weigh the presence of a CS result. But applying this year would definitely be worth it. Your scores are good and I think you'll do well honestly.

You will probably be fine - I had similar scores, but my CK score didn't come in until late Nov., my CS not until January and I need a visa. I had 2 IV's. Didn't match. Womp-wahh.

I am now re-applying this year, graduated, certified and complete and hoping for a better outcome. I know colleagues that were in the same class as me, had lower scores, also required a visa, but applied with a "Complete" app and are now in their intern year. It does make a difference (at least in my experience it did).

[note: before someone asks why... I was unable to write my exams, our school had a dumb rule about a certain amount of weeks rotation that had to be completed, regardless of the fact they could not schedule me/didn't have an open rotation slot and I literally sat waiting.]

I wish you the best for this years match.
