Dears friends as most of us know that Canada has opened up an alternate route for dentists through which we can practice without doing DDS.
But one thing that is still very dicey here is the PR part. Does this exam for equivalency process also lead to PR/immigration or do we have to find some other route to get it. Because as i understand the process even if a foreign trained graduate clears the exams he will not be allowed to practice until he is an immigrant or has a PR.
So does it makes much sense for a person not residing in Canada to take the exam?
If anyone can some information on this then please share it here.
Thanx

Hi,I have been searching for canada too,as long as I searched and emailed the universities you must have pr to continue your education and work because the fee is really expensive and you can't get loan without pr and you can't work while you're studying, that is why I have planned to immigrate to canada ,I don't know where are u but I have one question and hope you would help me ,if I be accepted in a university in canada for ex UBC in advanced standing program and finish the study would I be accepted as a dentist in USA?😕

As far as i know the answer to your question is yes you will be acepted in USA. But you will need to pass the licecsing exam of whichever state you chose to live in and a job as well before hand so that your working visa or H1B visa can be applied for which enables you to stay and work in USA.
Saying that, most people go for DDS programs of USA and not Canada as the number of seats in Canada are very less making it very difficult to get through the competetion. I even know a couple of people who had canadian PR but took addmission in advance standing program in USA and not Canada.
Hope this may help.🙂

Hello Oralcare123,
I am a newbie here in this forum and also a foreign trained dentist who's an aspiring permanent resident of Canada soon. I appreciate your credible and informative inputs here.🙂 May i ask if you're a practicing dentist in Canada and if you happen to be a foreign dentist too? If so, can you share your preparation/experience on how tough are the 3 qualifying exams prior to NBDE?🙂 Actually, am still undecided where to land in Canada whether the east or the west coast. I understand that the latter has the mildest climate in the country particularly Vancouver while the former has one of the coldest regions but how true that it has a wide array of job opportunities compared to Vancouver? The climate is important to me as i am from the tropical region (i'll be moving with my husband and a toddler just in case our PRs will be granted), if given a choice, Inasmuch as we want to have a smooth transition to begin our new life in a new environment, we're also considering the availability of jobs in the area too.. I hope you can enlighten me regarding these matters. Thank you very much in advance!🙂

Dentist are no longer in the list provided by immigration Canada to immigrate to Canada. And there is no shortage of dentists in Canada.

For the first 2 parts of the exam.

I am a Canadian PR' I passed the fundamental exam, and registered the next clinic skills and judgement this June, they did not ask me for the PR cards copy or any immigration document.

I do not know wether they will ask these documents when u sit the broad exam.

Since it is a long time to pass all the exams, so u can start the exam and immigration together, as my experience u do not need PR to sit the first 2 parts of the exams.

Dentists still very much are on the list!
PR is not a requirement..

I am a dentist here in BC Canada , in order for anyone to work /practice dentistry in Canada , he or she must be a Canadian or PR
As in USA there are certain rules that governs working in Canada , working holiday visas or visitor Visas does not allow you to work or practice Dentistry in Canada , I met many people who paid huge amount of money to end up wasting their time on exams without being able to work
However Taking license exams don't require you to have a citizenship or any kind of immigration status
before you end up paying 7000$ in exam fees , you better prepare your immigration papers and get it done
the road to immigration to Canada is much tougher than becoming a dentist

Hi
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me out.
I would like to sit the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge Exam of the NDEB of Canada.
Please can you advise me where to get the sample questions and answers from?
Apparently some sample questions have been released by the Canadian Dental Board in the past.

Many thanks
NB I just joined this site and I am not very familiar with it.

Hello..I'm a dentist who recently completed my undergraduate studies from India. I'm aspiring to do a post graduation. I would like to know what my chances are if I move in to Canada. Is it possible for me to find a post graduate seat in a Canadian University? If so..what's the process I should go through and the fees? Or else doing a post graduation in India...would it help me for a future there?
I would like to know where to find the study material which would help me to prepare for the licensing examination for dentists in Canada.
Thanking you.
