Greetings again, guys.

For those of you who might not remember me (100%, I'm guessing), I'll remind you that I have a MS in bio, a 3.4 undergrad GPA, and scored 38 on the MCAT.

Now that we've got that out of the way, I was wondering if the following would improve my application:

I have some free time currently, and in that free time, I am designing a chess set using around-the-house materials. It's the infrequently-expressed creative side of myself finally coming out. Now, I was going to do this alone and enjoy it alone; maybe play a couple games with friends.

But upon hearing about it, my friends were impressed and said I should post videos on how I made the set to Youtube, so others might be inspired. Which makes me wonder.... Would this be good for my application? Would presenting a little bit of art in an online forum like Youtube look good in the eyes of adcoms? Or would they roll their eyes?

Any help/opinions is appreciated. (I kinda hope for LizzyM's advice....)

Thanks

We are going to need to know your GPA and MCAT before giving you advice on the artwork that you are trying to sell.

I suppose I'll have to clarify.....

My application right now is all academics. Some shadowing. Some research and a few publications (not first author).

The one thing my application is missing is ECs in the form of art or creativity. Thus, the reason for making this chess set. If I post its construction to Youtube, I would be helping those who want to make a similar set, as well as providing the line of thought I used while I did it.

As for how I would refer to it, I would most likely list it under my ECs, with a link to the respective Youtube videos.

As I said, I'm going to do this anyway. The question is, should I post it on Youtube and include it in my application?

You could put it the hobbies section but I don't think it would matter much either way. You didn't mention volunteering...do you have any?
