so i received a 20 AA/20TS/16 PAT on my DAT (2nd time). would you guys recommend a retake? i'm enrolled in a 1 year masters program so i'm hoping to do well in that to get my gpa as high as possible.

do you guys think a high masters gpa could offset a 16 PAT?

I'd say no and would suggest a retake. You should try calling some schools though and ask their opinion about a 16 in that section. Also, apply to schools that don't scrutinize PAT scores.

^thanks for the input. yeah i mean, i called a few schools since i'm applying this cycle, they said that they look at the "whole" applicant...which i mean is true i suppose

I think your DAT scores are pretty good even with the 16 PAT and your DAT scores can land you some interviews if you apply to the right schools 🙂 But at the same time, some schools may not interview you because of that 16 PAT. To me, the only major problematic part of your application is probably your GPA, but since you are doing a Master's, that problem is taken care of 🙂 However, to increase your chances, scoring better on the DAT will help. This is the reason I'm deciding to retake my DAT at the end of the month. It will increase my chances a lot and I know I can do better 🙂 It's really all up to you. I always tell people that if you know you can do better, I would definitely retake. You will save time and even money in the long run if you do everything you can to increase your chances this cycle. You won't have to waste a year and another round of application fees and waiting. If you don't think you can do better on the DAT, then I probably wouldn't retake. Hope this helps! Good luck! 🙂

yes try to go to for schools that will not look at the PAT as much. im sure you can get in somewhere, it just might not be your #1 choice.
