I don't need your pity pal or anybody's pity. My language is direct and make no mistake about it. If you find it boring or ******ed, or radical that's your business. This is a board where anyone can share their thoughts and/or views on the subjects offered. If you count me as needing help because I have no problem standing up for myself, then so be it.

Your not one who should go to medical school because you see women as a species who should be examined with no questions asked whether they want it or not. Screw you pal. My views have nothing to do with my past. They have to do with my knowledge of what goes on with doctors and women's rights to refuse a gyn exam, any part of it, or anything she wants from a doctor and that includes you.

You keep your pity for those docs out there that are sexually assaulting and raping women under the pretense of a medical exam. Tell them they need help, not that they'll listen.

No one is really debating you here. What you're describing...forcing an exam on someone against their will...is assult! It's against the law! If it happens, the patient should call the police and file charges.

Although I'm sure what you're describing has happened..somewhere. It does not describe the general practice of OB/GYN.

Like all docs, OB/GYN's are obligated to inform their patients as to why they want to do an exam or procedure, and then...ONLY WITH THE PATIENT'S CONSENT they procede. OBGYNs do not FORCE their patients to undergo examination. If you do happen to know of someone who is doing this, please notify the police.

Okay, with that said...you seemingly have a disdain for the female exam. I understand in can be uncomfortable for some women, both physically and emotionally. Most docs I've worked with are extremely sensitive about these matters, and do everything in their power to put their patients at ease during these exams. Also, the female stand-by (usually a nurse) is usually very helpful in allieviting some of the patient's stress concerning the exam.

Janice, as you seem strongly opposed to performing Pap smears, how then should the medical profession go about screening women for cervical cancer without the Pap smear? 😕

Also, the bimanual exam can yield a myriad of abnormal findings that can aid in the detection of numerous pathologies including adhesions, uterine CA, pregnancy, endometritis, adenomyosis, etc.

Again, just to be clear...as with any exam or procedure...the patient has every right to refuse treatment. The doctor may try to explain why refusing examination is unwise: "Ms. Smith, in order to screen for and possibly prevent cervical cancer, I need to perform a Pap smear." However, if the patient still refuses after receiveing such explanation, the doctor will simply note in the chart that the patient refused examination. That way the doc is covered if the patient ever gets cervical CA and decides to file a lawsuit.

Janice, your posts suggest you lack a fundamental understanding of medicine. In order to thoroughly provide care for patients, physical exam is necessary. Maybe you should open up an OBGYN text and read a little before you post again.
