In Kentucky or Ohio.
Im a current CRNA student at Texas Wesleyan.
Any help?
Thanks

Just curious how "studentdoctor.net" forums could ever be seen as somewhere to obtain information about student nurse anesthetist rotation sites.

Am I missing something?

I just vomited after that read. Your people tell you to introduce yourself as a resident because the patient interprets that as a physician. You pay tuition right? You're a student so introduce yourself as a student. When I was a medical student I introduced myself to patients as a student. It's the right thing to do. Quit trying blur the damn lines and just be honest.

If you touched me or my family after introducing yourself as a resident, I would have you charged for assault and I would win.

RRNA

The term "RRNA" (Resident Registered Nurse Anesthetist) refers to a student enrolled in the Texas Wesleyan University Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia. RRNA appears to be a more acceptable term than "student" when in a patient care setting. The term "Student" may be substituted at clinical training sites where a conflict over terms exists.

Acceptable to who?

Surely not the patient who is being deliberately deceived.

Yes, the patient. They appear to feel better because they think it is a physician they are talking to. Since they have been deceived, they are unaware that it is actually a student nurse anesthetist they were talking to.

If they knew truth, they would not OK with it. But since they have unknowningly been lied to, they appear OK.

lol, someone made a new account just to point out the RRNA title this program tries to perpetuate.

Well played, sir. Well played.

- I guess they introduce themselves as anesthesia residents?

Shenanigans. Someone needs to step in and do something about that. Not even medical students introduce themselves as "residents."

You know what else sounds better than "student?" Nobel Prize-winning
pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon. Would you introduce yourself as that? Not without getting fired/sued/arrested, you wouldn't.

I have heard of SRNAs introducing themselves as a resident to patients. I have never seen it. If they ever tried it in preop with one of my patients I would kindly ask them to go find somewhere else for the day because I don't like trying to deceive people. I am happy to help educate them how to be a good and safe CRNA. I always introduce them as a nurse that is studying anesthesia and working with us today. I try not to say "this is a student" because I don't want to cause undue stress to the patient.

But I also don't want to trick the patient.

I know some Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons, I wouldn't introduce myself as one of them, they're jackholes.
