I have been considering expanding the number of schools I will be applying to this cycle, and the biggest factor in making that decision is cost. As far as most OOS tuitions are concerned, I cant afford them, so my question is... Which schools will let me claim residency after the first year of classes, for the purpose of tuition? I'm currently a NC resident, and have been considering mainly schools on the East Coast, so far. Most of the schools I have contacted are not giving me any good news, so maybe you guys can. 🙂

I only know of Ohio State University that lets students do this... I hope there is more though but that's the only one I know :/
oh the crazy high out-of-state tuition... 🙁

I purchased the AAVMC's Vet School Requirement's booklet this year and from what I remember, there is only a handful of schools that do this.

Ohio State and Mizzou are the only ones I know for certain at this moment, but I'm pretty sure there is a least one more that I was looking at... Oregon maybe?

use the search function PLEASE. this has been answered at least 100 times..

search function is in the top right corner.

Ohio State, UC Davis, U of Missouri, NC State

I did a quick search, didn't have time to try too may different word combos to tweak the results, but my initial results were not completely relevant, so I went to asking... Regardless, many thanks for the advice, from all who answered.

You can't gain in-state tuition at Wisconsin, but our OOS tuition is WAAAAY more reasonable than pretty much every other school out there. It's actually cheaper than my in-state would have been, taking into account cost of living.

There's a good reason for not cluttering the forum with repeated questions - it makes it harder for other people to find relevant or updated information on the same topic. We all don't have much time in our lives to read through several threads with all the same information, so using that as an excuse is a bit selfish. But you're new and now you know, no biggie. And welcome!

Here are relevant threads I found in about 5 minutes:
