in the area emails format

Hello,

I have an interview at a school and nearby are a few other schools that I had applied to. All of which are far away and will require a flight.

I have two questions:

1) Who do i send an in the area email to? The school admissions email address?

2) What is a general format for one of these? Do I simply state the date I'm in the area and say I am excited about the school and would be delighted to interview? It seems kind of tacky saying hey I'm in the area if you want to interview me..
