Ok so there is a big discrepency between my +- gpa (3.7) and w/o +- gpa (3.59), thats a 0.11 difference! So which ones do you reckon schools place importance on? From calling various schools, the stats they give out e.g "average accepted gpa is 3.61" refers to Inc +- but all they say is they look at both.

While the importance of each number may vary by school, I do believe that they have access to both so in the end things should be okay. You have a fine GPA as it is regardless.

+/- is more representative of grades and performance. I'd say +/-

I would think so too... But what about the schools who give out A+'s? W/O +/- seems like AADSAS way of standardizing this..

Right. I think it depends on the school too. One of my schools I am applying to take without +/- only (OSU). I haven't checked with the other three, but I suppose I should.

Most schools w/o +/-...Buy you are set with scores

It seems like w/o +/- is an equalizing factor between different universities, as some undergrad universities, like mine, issued all grades without +/-. Either way, the difference isn't huge and you have competitive GPAs; I wouldn't worry too much about that detail.

In my mind, without +/- is a way of seeing what kind of student you are. If your institution doesn't award +/- grades, well then there's no difference. I am assuming, however, that the majority of schools do award +/- grades.

So here's my take on it, but I'm not on an adcom!

If your +/- average is BETTER than your non +/- average, this says that you got more + grades than - grades. This can be good, as getting more B+ grades is better than getting more B- grades.

If your +/- average is WORSE than your non +/- average, then this says that you got more - grades than + grades. This indicates that you could have performed better by maybe making a B instead of a B-, or an A instead of an A-. I use my case as an example. An image of my verified GPAs are attached. I got more B- grades than B+, and so the non +/- seems to say "if he had only worked a little harder...he might have had a GPA like this..." haha.

However, if both GPAs are still good and don't differ much from each other, which I feel like mine probably are, I don't think it matters much. A lot of this is probably just over analyzation as well. Just do the best you can, submit your app, sit back, and wait for good news. 👍

Haha... but it always depends what you're comparing it to. An A- might mean you could have worked harder and got an A or that you worked hard enough that you didn't get a B+ 😉 either way i'm in the same boat as you... my W/O +/- is better than my Inc +/-.
