well 8 lakh is not a meagre sum! i doubt if i would b able earn even 3 lakh per annum with plain MBBS degree. U know how much is a senior resident in a government run hospital is paid? its come something near 7.5 grand per month compare that with a sweeper in BMC who get 9 grand for few hours of work every morning. the condition in private hospitals even worse.

even after finishing ur residency its not easy to earn that much amount of money!

Hi,

I have done my Masters in Electrical Engineering from a well-known institution & have been working in the IT industry for the past 3.5 years now.

I would like to know if it possible for me ( in the first place ) to apply to MD/PhD programs in the US.

Does someone here know of such possibilities?

Looking forward to your valued inputs.

Thanks.

Definitely, Students like you are called Non Traditional students. Y ou'll have to check with a university counselor if you have completed all your med school pre requisites and take the MCAT> your GPA is decent, to get you into US med schools. You will have to take the mcat and aim above a 30 range ( which is competitive). these two factors and you are good to go for MD schools. If you had had any research in the prior years ( any kind of research, even engineering is fine) then you are good to go for MD PhD. But really, you shouldlove research, they need proof that you'll not drop out of their program in middle of the curriculum, because it costs them a lot, to pay for your education, etc. So yup, it totaly is possible, iinfact if you check trhe "nontraditional students" forum on this website, there are tons and tons of students like you whwo change their carreer and do fine...
good luck!

EDIT: oops i just noticed that you did not include your GPA. Above a 3.5 is considered competitive...
