Hey did anyone else hear back from IU today? I found out that I got in this morning. I'm out of state by the way.

No acceptance, but I did find out that I am an alternate today.

I got accepted yesterday by phone. I am a resident.

Congratulations, I am still waiting...

Made the alternate list today....I'll take it. Seems like a better waitlist than most, b/c its so expensive for out of staters like myself.

Yep, made the out of state alternate list today too. Whats everybody doing if they get accepted?

Today I received an email from Indiana - it was titled "Not Accepted"

For some reason I opened the email...why?
(Curiosity killed the cat???)

It was comical to see an email so to the point.

I like it when they tell you in the title of the e-mail whats in it.

You asked what I'm doing if accepted? I'm going to accept the offer for now. But since I'm Canadian, I'm waiting on a couple of schools here (I'm high on the waitlist at one school here) and I'd take the Canadian school first...especially with the price tag being so much more attractive in Canada!

I got the call on Monday.

When she just said "this is from IUSD...", my heart was pounding so badly.
And as soon as she said "We'd like to offer a...",
I lost it. I screamed like crazy person.

But who cares! I am IN Baby!!!!!

Wow that sucks

I interviewed twice at IU and got denied both times but I got in to somewhere else so don't give up hope. Keep imrpoving your application and things will work out for you good luck.

Has anyone heard how many seats Indiana is actually needing to fill? In-state or Out-of-state?

I don't think they NEED to fill any seats. Those on the alternate list will get accepted only if some people from the current class decide to drop out. Thus, movement will occur on this list about as fast as people with current acceptances, and deposits, decide to decline the offer which will completely depend on each individual persons situation.

In my interview Dr. Kasberg said that last year they made it through the entire list of 50 students and actually extended an offer to #50 two weeks before school started. So there's some good news for this usually depressing site. Not saying it will happen again, but its been done.

Well, that is about the only hope that I have. I am in the 40's🙁. I guess all I can do is hope. I just want to be a dentist so bad and I don't want to redo this all over again. It is a long and painful process. Heres to hoping!:luck::luck::xf::xf:

Anyone hear if they have moved up on the list? In-state/Out of state?

are there separate waitlist for instate and out-of-state??? or is it all together??

I'm a fellow D-1 at IU School of Dentistry, and I have to say, I really dislike the triple jump exams that is part of the PBL curriculum.

I don't mind the PBL curriculum, although it doesn't really help some of my classmates learn the real materials.

The part I hate about triple jump exams is the "kind" of examiner you get will determine whether you will pass this ridiculous "waste of time" exam.

In other words, I had a faculty member examine me on my first triple jump, the one that really counts, back in late January. That faculty member failed me, and said that she wasn't satisfied with my performance. So I had to remediate with that faculty member during my free-time study period. Basically a waste of time for me, because that time period is dedicated for either PBL research or for regular study activity for upcoming exams.

Now get this. We take a 2nd triple jump exam in early March. I was assigned to be examined by a 4th year dental student during the first two week of this month.

This particular examiner was satisfied with my performance and allowed me to pass this ridiculous triple jump exam. Get this. I performed the SAME way as I did with the faculty member who tested me back in January, with this 4th year dental student examiner!!!.

It's up to you guys. If you're an in-state resident of Indiana, this dental school will be dirt cheap for tuition. But if you're a non-resident, you WILL pay non-resident tuition for all 4 years of your dental school career.

I have some friends who are non-resident students, and they absolutely hate the way they are treated with respect to the fact that they pay tuition the price that's almost equivalent to private dental school tuition rate.

Just letting some of you guys know where I'm coming from.
