I have a question regarding attire to the indiana interview. Normally i would just wear a suit or nice pants, shirt, and tie. However, I am going to participate in their PBL/Interview and wondering how should I dress. The thursday is the PBL into and then Friday is Interview in morning and then PBL afternoon. I want to dress comfortably but don't want to seem like a slob for the interview. Any suggestions?

hey bud,

well, i did the same exact thing as you will be doing. i was there for 2 days. the the interview and mock PBL.

on the 1st day, you need to be dressed up for your interview. you will interview 1st then start your PBL. needless to say, you wanna have a suit, shirt, tie, the whole 9 yrds on for your 1st day.
on your 2nd day, you can go as casual as you want, but i recommend khakis and something dress casual.

good luck and let me know if i can help further.,

Good call as usual, Ahmad. 😀

I wore my boxers and they seemed to enjoy that.... Good route to go if you're into that kind of thing... Good luck at IU.

Boxers and a tie should be the way to go. 😀
Perfect, actually I will be interviewing on the Friday in the morning before the 2nd session of PBL. So, khakis & dress shirt on PBL and Suit & tie for interview and then change of clothes for the PBL (2). What are your insights on the PBL class? Have you felt that PBL is a good format for learning?

Anyway, thanks again for the info. Maybe I will see you there.

Do a thread search for PBL and you'll see what I've had to say about it over the year and some change I've been participating in it. On balance, I give it a thumbs-up, though not without some reservations.

Incidentally, if you're doing PBL Friday afternoon, will you be sitting in with a group of second-year students? That's my class, and we're the only ones doing PBL on Friday afternoons.

hey you guys, i just got an interview with Indiana I think- there was no congratulations page or anything, it said if you want an interview you have to send these few things to us. Anyways, I was wondering why they need so many prereqs to go to their school. I dont think I will be able to finish all of that Anatomy and Biochem by the time I graduate and they seem adamant that you must, so I think I will be withdrawing. How many people do they select for an interview, or is this more of a way to make more money?
Thanks.

i really doubt that IUSD invite people to interview to make money. they money they'd make is not even pocket change if you think about how much money iusd gets from other sources.

as far as finishing your pre reqs go, yes you would wana finish them if you wanna attend IUSD. they are damn serious about those and won't make any exceptions.

good luck

Hey guys,

I aminterviewing with Indiana in a week and I am an out-of-state student. Can you guys please give me some advice? I am an Illinois resident and would love to go to Indiana so all advice will be very appreciated. Thanks.

Drop me a PM with any specific questions you have, and I'll be happy to answer them for you.

I was interviewed at IUSD on 9/7/04. Make sure your read "interview feedback" section on the main page. Be prepared to justify why you wanna be a dentist and why IUSD is the school of your choice.

P.S. If you planning on staying overnight, there is Red Roof Inn located of 465 exit 90, as far as I remember. I paid only $39 for a nice clean room.

Good Luck

There is no exit 90 on I-465. 😉 It only goes up to 53. Do you remember which part of town you were in? I might be able to narrow it down a little if you do.

5221 Victory Drive, I-465 at South Emerson Avenue is where I stayed. IUSD is only 15 minutes from that place.

Heh, that's just a few minutes away from where I live. If you took I-65 downtown, you probably saw the buildings in my apartment complex while you were changing interstates.
